R.I.P

Walker and Honour running down the wings during the 85-86 season one of my best memories of following pools.

Yup, we had a really strong spell with those two running the wings, looked like we would finally do something after a very bleak spell indeed. Skilful, clever player.

Another it could only happen at Pools moment! the way we blew up that season, after a long lay off due to the weather. Brian had to work hard as a winger, Walker made it look easy, had an air of gracefullness as he glided past the opposition right back.

shocked, he can't have been very old. The season relegation came in to the Conference, Pools were struggling that season - and he scored a brilliant last gasp winner in a Friday night game against Colchester....
took down a cross on his chest and smashed the ball into the top corner before it had hit the floor

RIP Nigel

Just sent a text to Brian Honour and on his behalf he has asked me to tell you that he sends his condolences. He did not know and he is absolutely gutted as you can probably imagine.

Very sad news. Good footballer, with a better touch than we were used to in the mid-eighties, and a nice bloke. Used to work with a neighbour of his who had a lot of time for him. Always thought he'd gone to work at Nissan after Pools, maybe he started teaching maths after that.

Meet Nigel a few years back and he spoke fondly of pool's.

RIP Nigel.
