Can't believe I'm seeing so many people in the town and England getting worked up over this.

American Football is absolutely appalling and a shit "sport" that makes no sense whatsoever.. FACT

I quite like it, interesting psychology and tactics behind every play. Won't be watching tonight like, up at half 6 in the morning.

Shocking start from Denver but they are still only one score down in theory if they went for a 2 point conversion
They have to put up some points soon tho

How many refs does one game need?

I saw ten seconds then it stopped for about 5 minutes and they added 4 seconds.

6 seconds of action, then 5 seconds, and a throw, a wait, another throw, and some adverts.

Do they slow this shit down to make it easier for Americans to understand or is it so they can eat a small cars weight in crisps during the game?

Mental that 2 minutes of 'play' lasts more than 10.

Second best spectator sport after rugby league for me. Not a big Superbowl fan because of all the patriotism and razzamatazz but I always watch it.

I'm on Seattle half time / full time tonight at 2/1 and I've also backed them ante post to win outright at 9/2.

They will win.

I watched the first ten minutes, I'll watch any major sporting event but I just don't get American Football.

They built up this player for Seattle in the understated, pretty short and quite frankly lacking in detail three hour build up to kick off after about 10 minutes someone chucked it to him he caught it ran forward about ten yards and celebrated like he'd just scored a 30 yarder. The commentators then said it was just the 7th time he'd touched the ball...... all season!!! Considering the coin they make I immediately thought of a rueful Tony Sweeney at home realising he's been playing the wrong sport for 12 years.

I been to watch the Jets play and was very boring and hearing all the yanks going mad for a little guy running 10 yards isnt my cup of tea. Not as bad as baseball though which also goes on forever. At least basketball and ice hockey are ok.

Another thing I noticed, one of the players was a proper fat bastard not 'fat' like people call Frank Lampard because he's slightly stocky this fella was morbidly obese like one of those you see on the tele were they have take a wall down and lift him out with a crane to go to hospital. Was he a competition winner or is a fatty key part of any team?

They said the game was taking place in the tri state area, part of his arse was in all three states I think.

He was probably a defensive end or a blind side ergo a fat fucker just to stop people.

It really does highlight the intricate tactics involved that someone gets a game just because he's as fat as fuck and you need Sat Nav to run around them. I can picture all of the rest if the team in the gym and him just sat on a bench next to them eating cheese burgers.

Funny I think baseball and US football are way better than basketball and ice hockey, though they take a lot longer to get into
Basketball just has way too much scoring for me, but to each his own

How does American football take longer to get into. You have 4 goes to get ten yards then it starts again if you dont make it to the end zone the other team gets the ball simple really its just boring as hell.

Again to each his own but I think it took me a while to appreciate it, I used to think it was dull too
On the other hand I still can't get into Basketball, though am sure there is more to it than I give it credit for

It takes longer to get into because of the above as oppose throwing a ball in a hoop.

Basically all American Sports are crap and thats the end of it.

American Football, Baseball, Basketball and Ice Hockey are only really played by the yanks at a good domestic level and even so when they do play other countries in them e.g the Olympics they get hammered by the Cubans in Baseball and Russians / Canadians at Hockey.

Ice hockey is like a religion in Canada
It is annoying the way the basketball works at the Olympics, with them bogging up themselves despite having all the best players

Baseball is a weird sport to have in the Olympics , as playing 1 game is a bit of a lottery, it is about the only sport they have nt contrived for TV tho to give it some respect

I do agree I like the draft and the way they work it so the bottom team has first pick etc to maintain some for of fair play.

I have watched a lot of NFL and used to watch it every Sunday nearly for the last two years as my flatmate plays in the english league for Cambridge Cats. I understand it and get all the plays I just cant get excited about it at all.

The Seahawks had a very young team with none of them playing in the SB before and glad they won and I hte Peyton Manning as well.

That's fair enough, surprised you 'hate' Manning, in general one of the most respectful and non-arrogant players around

As for the fairness most US sports are like that, can't see it ever happening in football though
Maybe something like baseball where they have a luxury tax is doable

I went to watch a game at Wembley this season, Minnesota v Pittsburgh. Was a really good day out and the game flows a lot more than you think watching it live.

I was disappointed the BBC didn't cover the games this year. I used to watch the MNF game on iPlayer but I can't abide by Channel 4's coverage due to all the advert breaks. As a result I've not seen many full games other than the catch up action on the Saturday morning programme.

I started watching it about 25 year ago because it was the only thing you could bet on of a Sunday night, and at first I thought it was alright but incredibly slow. The constant ad breaks got on my tits until the advent of the Internet and betting in play. Now those ad breaks are vital for anyone trading on the games.

It's probably the best sport to trade in running as their can be very dramatic swings in the odds , especially in games where the lead changes hands several times.

I can see why people don't like it, and I can see why it isn't played by other nationalities. For starters it's not a game you could play in the local park as a kid with a few of your mates.

Interesting, I always thought manning came over as pretty much as inoffensive you can get

Agree on the kids thing, football (real football) has huge participation amongst kids but a lot of the best 'athletes' invariably turn to us football or baseball as they get older. Good thing too as i really couldn't be fooked with the yanks winning the World Cup , would be insufferable

Lol , I like Brady as well, though I read an interesting article about how they have been deliberately marketed as the 'elite playboy' and the 'everyman'

People are saying Wilson vs Kapernick may be the new rivalry but will see

Didn't know manning was a god botherer ( at least no more than the usual numpties)
Tebow on the other hand....
