Hypothetical question. If Pools said next season's season ticket price was going to be £150 again but said fans could pay/donate more, how much would people be prepared to pay more. It hypothetical, a bit like pay what you want on the gate that some clubs do but still have to pay the minimum of £150

I'd rather pay £10-15 on the gate and do away with the season ticket.

Why would you pay more than told? I agree with the above post make it £15 to sit and £10 to stand and that way everyone is happy.

You'd have people asking for physical proof that more than 1p over was paid or everyone would be in it.

Can I be first in the queue for the "I want to pay the same amount less than Bob paid more" elite.

Why do clubs have "pay what you want" on the gate games. It to get fans and hopefully extra income. MJ I never thought of another elite being formed.

How many would do away with both though.

If you decide to pay double do you also get a voucher for the padded wall fitters company and a free straight jacket?

Well this is where the club would have to be clever at communicating with the stay away fans and making sure that the results and performances caused those that were present to make positive noises about the value it offered.

How about if the club said £200 for the season ticket and if we don`t get promoted we will refund you £100, incentive or what to both fans and club :happy-cheerleaderkid:

Would a bonkers question. Is bob trying to create his own elite?

Would what you pay bob?

I'd just pay what they cost, anyone else would be a bit mental.

The question should be changed too...

"prove how much of a better fan you are by admitting how much extra you'd pay on top of a season ticket in order to be on the highest horse and be the elitest of the elite"

Being incredibly tight I voted for paying £150 less than this year thus forming the Cgafatcohiapiwrhmmimp Elite (Couldn't give a fuck about the club or how I am perceived I would rather have more money in my own pocket Elite)

I think I've now begun to see the club as an entertainment provider that is offering me an experience, lots of bits of that experience aren't as good as they could be (and indeed are at other clubs of a similar size) therefore I'm not inclined to pay more or even buy a season ticket that costs more than £10 a game over a season because that is the value I place on it.

I don't think I've made any sense there.

Or instead of saying 1 person wins all the fivers, make it so that x amount of people get their season ticket stake back.

ie if we sold say 4000 at £205. then thats £20,000 available to win or 100 season tickets. Therefore 100 people get their money back or something.

200 bar wouldn't be unreasonable, it's still well less than an Ayrton a match.

The problem is, it's a 33% increase and the noise would be deafening because no-one thinks about putting a few bob away and they have to find it in three months, in the summer, when your kids are off school and you want a holiday, which is a whole different task.

Maybe there could be a scheme that can let you dribble your cash in at times when there aren't such demands on your income, I dunno.

They already do that, even with £150 season tickets you can pay it over 10 direct debits.

Id pay whatever the price was, if it's £150 I'd pay £150. If it was £200 id pay that. Can't imagine any sane person thinking I'm gonna shot extra in, unless they want bragging rights or are a bit thick.

I don't and wont ever belong to an elite. I've said it before and will say it again we're all the same. the question is to simply gauge people's thoughts. Lot of people on number boards/ social network sites have stated Pools lack ambition because they've sold Baldwin. yet when those same people are asked to cough up more to enable Pools to have a bigger budget they say they won't/couldn't afford to. So if the majority want cheap tickets and you do, then when money isn't there to buy players whose fault is it ? We all know IOR want us self sufficient so basically what the fans put in is what we get to spend.

The thing is Bob, lots of us have familes and other priorities above football and always will have.

1000s of people stay away at the minute because they can't justify the time/expense of football and I don't blame them. I love following Pools & always will but I'll equally never put the club ahead of any needs my family has.

In June if its a choice between £600 on two season tickets or the same on a couple of nights at friends weddings in August I'll skip the footy.

Mr alien I totally agree with you , and thats why you won't see me on here having a go at people who don't attend games, I don't know their disposable income/family situation.

But and this is still hypothetical it would probably be a better idea to say £150 a season ticket and if please note I said if, fans want to donate more they can, rather than to say a season ticket will cost £400-£500. I've never said it was compulsory, and I wouldn't expect everyone to do it as I've said they have their priorities, but if it was a way of Pools increasing revenue, just where is the problem. Clubs have had a "pay as much as you want " games and increased attendance, why could the same type of idea not apply to the price of a season ticket. The minimum price is still set.

I presume this poll is aimed at people who use their season ticket for pretty much every home match? The value of the season ticket depends on how many games you actually go to.

I miss half the games because of work/travel commitments. I don't mind buying a season ticket because I think I'm showing a bit of commitment to my team, and I never try to flog or give away spare tickets (anyone in the town who wanted one off me would have to do a 30 mile round trip to collect). I'm sure there's loads of ST holders who miss a fair few games - the weekly attendances show that. Russ isn't daft, it's a decent lump sum up front into the club's bank account, and the 'lost' income is only a theoretical amount anyway.

Oh, and I always buy a programme (if I can find a programme seller).

That still depends on the individual. Some season ticket holder's pay to use the corporate boxes once or twice a season, they've paid for the game previously. Do they come under the yubep

Yubep wrote:

Mr Alien uses a spot on scenario if he had to pay £600 for couple season tickets, his priorities would change because of cost. If they go up Pools lose his money, if they stay the same they gain that, no more from him and I don't have problem with that, if someone wishes to pay they do. It's hypothetical and trying to see where prices stay around the same mark but more income can be generated. It's obvious that a lot of the money that will be generated in to the club has to come from the fans now and for the foreseeable future. In my opinion it's where the money coming from for players in the future. £500K just come in to the club (or maybe come in to the club over the next couple of seasons), I would love to think it'll go on player(s), do I believe it will go on experienced ones or young ones or no one.

I would imagine there would be issues raised by allowing fans to pay more if they wish to, not least in terms of the tax man. Would a club really disclose the extra payments taken especially given the books are likely to simply state that the full balance of £150 was received for each ticket.

That of course is a major problem because if the money "donated" was not disclosed then of course it couldn't be used for players under FFP.

Why would anyone want to pay more ? If people wanted to pay more then surely they would sponsor a player or buy something from the club shop.

I would put them back at 100 quid for the first 5000 who buy one. There can't be many paying on the gate .....
