I am moving house this coming Friday, and am thinking about setting up dual fuel.

I know there are loads of comparison websites etc to check out and i will be doing that tonight after work. I was just wondering if anyone has any reccomendations or horror stories of who to avoid?

I have had a phone call from the estate agent were buying from who have taken the pleasure of getting us their most competitive quotes.

They have used an average and require me to send meter reading when I move in and also each month until they calculate exactly what is owed (either way).

The house is a 4 bed detached in Hartlepool and quotes are as follows:

1st Utilities - price/unit fixed until April 2015
EDF - price/unit fixed until April 2015 (£6 per month more expensive than 1st Utilities) and
Scotish Power (£1 more expensive than EDF)

Thanks in Advance

I change supplier quite regularly and without a doubt First Utility offer the worst customer service. They couldn't calculate my bill correctly. Despite their low prices Which does not recommend them because of their shite service. It is worth checking that its not cheaper to split suppliers rather than have a dual fuel deal.

I personally wouldn't use anybody but the main suppliers. Going through a third party often results in a wrongly calculated bills. I currently use E-On, I can't tell you at the minute what Im paying, but I do like the fact you can input your own readings online which are accurate and not estimated.

First utility are slow but they gave put in a smart meter for me ...finally and I input my own gas reading as if you leave it it them they will overestimate tremendously

I pay E-On £132 a month but I have no idea if that is cheap or expensive. Does that help?
