Compton went off today again and replaced and wasn't happy about it.

Punched the plastic glass in frustration before Cooper shouted something at him. Anyone else see this?

Compton made their left back and centre back shit their pants, but couldn't wrap his right round the ball enough to find a killer ball. Confidence player who needs support and has all the tools to be a great player for us.

Thought Compton was doing well today, it's just a shame it looks like he is going to be the whipping boy when a change is to be made. He was looking dangerous every time he had the ball and always had two defenders for company. Players like him can change a game with one piece of brilliance and I'd like to see him stay on when he is causing problems.

On another note, I really like the look of Bradley Walker. Got a good first touch and looks confident on the ball. Could he be useful playing the role that James Poole is currently given?

Walker seemed a little reluctant to turn today when he had time to. Was receiving the ball with his back to goal and playing a backwards pass when he had time to turn and look forward. Normally very positive with the ball but seemed a little less so today, still looks a cracking prospect though.

Maybe he didn't get a shout to turn Stevo. Anyway, can't remember the last time we had so many really good prospects playing for us. Baldwin's defending, Duckworths all round brilliance, Walker's composure and James's goals must have made Hartlepool United the main priority for any scout who knows what he's doing.

Yea maybe mate, was just an observation I made today.

It's probably training with England that's bringing him down a level lol

Compton was awful yesterday again, his attitude is getting in the way of his development as a footballer and you can see why he's only played a handful of games at each club he's been at. Nothing to do with ability, which he certainly has. Cooper wasn't impressed with his behaviour at all he refused to shake to the managers hand when he came off then started booting and slinging stuff at the dugout like a petulant child. He body language from the first minute belonged to someone who's mind was elsewhere and he did well to stay on as long as he did.

I must be watching a different game if people thought he was doing well.

Kinda agree with Pj. He can't use his right foot so he just turns inside everytime and their defenders know this, be nice to see him getting some crosses in instead but guessing he can only do that if he plays on the left.

Our goal and best two chances came from crosses, get the ball in instead of trying to run inside every time.

Did he? Walker nearly came on as Walton signalled he was struggling I know that.

one question - why is Sweeney getting on every week, and replacing Poole? A Poole not playing anywhere near his best is still ten times better than Sweeney playing at his best.

I just don't get it, unless Poole was injured?

Poole took a knock.

Did Sweeney touch the ball? I'm sure yloop can inform us he made a pass an therefore 'played well'.

We thought Cooper was going to take off Compton just by the way him and Hignett were getting visibly pissed off with his lack of work rate and general demeanour.

As soon as Walton gave a thumbs up to cooper then walker sat down so I'm pretty certain it was for Walton and he had run it off.

Walker must think, "how the fuck is Sweeney getting on before me"?

We really need, as a club, to do what's right for the team and not just get someone's farewell season appearance money up. Sorry but the style of football that suited Sweeney disappeared from the pro ranks at least 5 years ago.

Players have to be better with their touch, control and passing because of the high pressing game teams have adopted when they don't have the ball

and Sweeney isn't good at that in acres of time and space!!!!!

Really we are playing with 10 men when he's out there, good servant as he is and nice lad as he may be.... he just cannot cut it out there

Walker for me has that touch of flair, which can create an opening, I reckon what he maybe does lack is an aggressive side to his game just yet.
I thought Walton was excellent yesterday, winning a lot of headers in midfield, he also isn't afraid to lambast fellow players when they give possession away cheaply, which I like, we need someone to keep the younger players in the team focused.
Poole seems to be running into a couple of markers too much when just keeping possession and holding would be an option. Although I do like his direct style. It seems as though the oppo' have his style sussed in the last few games.

That's the second home game in a row he has spat his dummy out and the second home game in a row he's been shite. He punched the dugout and Cooper said " Don't you fucking dare " then went over to him finger wagging and shouting. I agree with PJ that his attitude will eventually have a detrimental effect on his development. Although I'm not Franks' greatest fan, he did seem to offer alot more when he came on.

If he put as much effort in on the pitch as he does throwing boots and punching dugouts every time he's subbed, he could turn into a real good player for us.

Comptons a league 2 winger, he's inconsistent, he's gunna have quiet games, he's gunna have ellish games, thats why he's down at this level.

He seems a complex guy who when hes up he's very up but when he's down he comes across as incredibly emotional. Cooper seems to know how to manage him so im sure he can sort him out.

ha'way man Dibble behave yerself!!! We are commenting on how certain players are currently performing!!! Compton and Franks have both been under performing in the past month compared to how they CAN play

Sweeney is one of the football dinosaurs you have been advocating we should not have any longer. Sweeney has been a good servant and without doubt is a Poolie like us,but that doesn't mean me and you are good enough to be out there

How does that mean we hate them!!! Worst accusation EVER !!

Bunker snobbery from dibble there i think, him n some of his more foreign based mates love to point out that players are the now 'hate figure'...

When in reality no one is and like parmo says it's just a comment on a performance, nothing more.

I always thought managers love it when players don't want to be subbed, shows 'desire' or somesuch. I did see Copper and Hignett telling him in no uncertain terms 'you're off' but the telly didn't show him chucking stuff about as it concentrated on showing Franks having a storming spell and scaring the shite out of their defence.

His body language throughout the game was poor it wasn't just his reaction to the substitution. He doesn't look the easiest character to manage I think he even admitted that in a recent Interview but you can't go on like that and not expect a bollocking, you could half understand his reaction had he played anything like he can but he deserved subbing.

I dont get this whole "it must be tough being away from his missus and bairn".

He's a footballer, How many footballers carve out a living playing for a local club? Most have to travel far and wide.

There are many people work away from home and are away from their families all over the world. Its about what you want out of life and maturing and adapting to accommodate all of that. If you cant hack it, get out of it!!!!

well I must have been at that mythical other game, because in the first half Compton was excellent. He was playing right in front of where we were sitting and they doubled up on him as he'd obviously been highlighted pre-game. The lad is one-footed, so he's always going to struggle playing as an out and out right winger. Maybe time to give him a run down the left. The two things he certainly fucking wasn't remotely yesterday were 'awful' and 'shite'. Try encouraging the lad and see what wonders that works.

really, you thought he was excellent?

He was away to be brought off around 38-40 minutes, but the ball remained in play until the 43rd minute. Cooper and Hignett told Walker to wait til half time. Then just before half time Poole took a knock and this prompted Sweeney's arrival at the break. Although Walker should have probably been introduced at that point thats another discussion/debate.

So Compton was not having an excellent game as he was going to be brought off before half time, but for continued play and an injury to Poole.

He was continually hiding when I watched him in the first half. When Duckworth picked the ball up at full back, Compton stayed with their full back instead of trying to lose him or come short. He was basically hiding when we needed players to stand up and be counted. as someone has said, he looked to have his mind elsewhere.

If he is missing his family, get them to come up and stay up in Hartlepool for a few nights. Like I said earlier, he is a footballer and will be likely to be plying his trade away from home.

He had a couple of run in's with Cooper and Hignett first half, I think he thought he was getting subbed.

I must be watching a different game if people thought he was doing well.

well I must have been at that mythical other game, because in the first half Compton was excellent.

Cooper and Hignett didn't seem to agree with you!?

or maybe they thought a right footed player might be a better bet down the right hand side ????

His substitution was finally decided after he horribly messed up a good position on the right lifting the ball into the Town End. For about the fourth time in the game Cooper and Hignett went mad with frustration towards him and they shouted Franks straight back.

first paragraph shite, second paragraph better.

how the lad can be accused of hiding is just beyond me. like I said, we were no more that ten yards away from him for much of the first half and they got two men to mark him to stop him. if his right foot is not his favoured foot then why play him down the right ? he can only ever cut back inside on to his left when he plays there.

perhaps a bit of support would encourage the lad instead of nitpicking at his every performance. I thought poole was very average, but wouldn't dream of coming on here an calling him shite or awful. in fact, as we were coming down from where we sat for the second half I gave him a pat on the back and told him "well done". far more productive than slagging the lad off.
