Hope the energy companies are proud.. Its disgusting that this allowed to happen in our "civilised" country.. We should nationalise the lot and scatter these greedy not nice people..

The words presented may not be the ones inputted ..Thanks Tapatalk

I agree. It's obscene.

With hindsight it was a mistake to wean people onto central heating which is so expensive to use. When people had coke/coal/log fires, at least there would be one warm room.

While I hate the energy companies, I do wonder how much of this problem is down the media scaring old folk into believing they can't afford it.

The poor buggers have no chance of working out if they really can afford it and the companies penalise folk who refuse to pay in advance.

Tbh i dont know if they are costing me a fortune at the moment as i just started using them this month so going to see what my bill is like next month. I keep them on all day with the input (only on at night) on high and the output on low during the day. I might be ballsing this up like and get a massive bill in.

I've just got us signed up to a plan which is a 10% increase on what we pay now, but fixed dual fuel for the next 3 and a bit years. Hate them with a passion I do, but hopefully they won't renege on this cos I'd love to be able to sue them if they pass on a so-called unavoidable price hike during the term of the deal

Check your usage on a monthly basis, Mr Compo.
Read your meter and calculate your cost.
You can do it at certain times of the day as well to see any patterns that could save you money.
I keep monthly records on a spreadsheet, updating them takes a couple of minutes.

If you fill up a hot water bottle and put a cushion over it, you'll reduce your chance of developing piles.

Don't count on anything changing soon. Turkeys never vote for Christmas, so if you're poor and/or old, just keep quiet and hurl your own carcass onto the 29% and rising...

if they raise the prices against my agreement terms, I WILL steal or buy a gas meter and swap it over. The meter is under the stairs, so fuck em

our lass works at npower, she went into work the other week n there was 1,300 people in the que, with the average hold time for a customer being 35 minutes before your call is answered.

Makes sense to lay people off.

economy 7 is still available if you use a lot of electric between 12 and 7, with a low rate, but you pay a premium during the day, you need to be using at least a third of all your electric at night to benefit.

If you have a fixed deal they can't raise your prices, but understand that means that the unit price is fixed, not your direct debit amount, if you use more then your dd could/will go up. May sound obvious, but I wish I had a tenner for the number of times I've had to, sometimes at great lengths, had to explain that to customers.

when I ran my pub they upped the standing charges!! I also caught out the supplier who didn't think I would check the conversion of the gas units to kWh used... overcharged me by £100 one month!! They sent out the correct bill, and promptly attempted to do it again the next month
as for folks not realising that increased usage means an increased premium well that's the Jeremy Kyle generation for you!!!

The mrs works in 1 of the buildings in peterlee, it doesn't look like job losses in her building thankfully but the other 2 are going at 9am according to the echo.

Not sure I read it right like.

Might have to re think that ps3 for the youngun if she finds out at 9am she's jobless.

Link for anyone else who works at npower
