It's come down a few pence per litre for a change. Still rapishly high but to fill up now costs me less than £70 which gives me some sort of psychological boost.

It'd give me a bout of clinical depression. Is it still cheaper to fill up with supermarket lager??

I still think £1.30 a litre is amazing considering the journey the fuel has took. I wouldn't mind paying it if it was all going to the companies involved in pulling it out of the ground, transporting it around the world to refineries then transporting it from there to my local Esso. It's the duty that riles me about it, especially when the government waste so much money.

22mpg here as well, I use a fair amount!

I agree with Yloop I dont mind paying it but the amount of tax we pay is criminal. My American cousins couldnt believe how much we pay and when I was over there in summer it cost me about $50 (£30) to fill up a focus I hired.

This is the trouble with it. But when BP or Shell post their profits the media try to make them look bad, when they don't tell you is how tiny a percentage of their turnover the profit is.
