I know a lad called 'Giro' so named for a reason nobody seemed to know. He got this name long before Giros in the DSS sense of the word existed.

I also know a guy nicknamed 'line 'em up Louis' he got this name for an unmentionable event some years ago which was at the centre of a police enquiry where a team of coppers were investigated alleged war crimes in the Falklands.

I used to play football with a guy known as "Big Red Llama".

I still see him around town from time to time - he always says hello, but I've got absolutely no idea what his real name is or how he got his nickname.

Mind, the Beans is a cracking skin-basher himself, his band are excellent.

Lad at school was known as Orinoko - 'cos he was fat & napped a lot

Another got Vache - no idea why maybe becuase his surname was Brown? I don't know. Tragic really, kid was run over by a wagon on his bike riding to school & killed

Finally - Twinny, nickname for both of a set of twins, nobody could tell them apart (not even sure their mother could), but they were aggressive bastads if you got their names wrong, calling them both twinny was taken as the safest option

I am known as 'John the Tongue' to a few people, on account of my proboscis-like mouth appendage.

My dad gave everyone a nickname. At his funeral there were loads of gadgies from his youth who were called things like Splinter and Bogbrush. Our neighbours were variously given names like Fearless Fred, Mr Silkcock, Crazy Jane, The Broken Down Actress and Hairy Little Thug. He used to call me Nobbo until I turned 18, then I became Young Master Penis.

Just thought of another - my mate works with a bloke called 'Slippers', which I think is to do with him liking to keep the comfy indoor footwear on when making the beast with two backs.
