Weak as piss and distribution was terrible yesterday, I would go as low to say I would rather have Sam Collins at centre half and push Baldwin up into midfield instead of that useless shit Walton. No Wonder Wadsworth, Cooper and Hughes where reluctant to play him at the back, my hearts in my mouth every time the opposition play a long ball because we can't deal with them

I sort of agree. I don't think ive seen him play worse for us. I noticed Duckworth having a right go at him just after Oxfords second yesterday. There seems to be a bit of panic at the back now.

Most centre backs distribution is shit when challenged. You basically just get rid.

Its not low to think he should be in midfield its common sense.

So your opinion of a centre back who and I'll quote you was weak as piss and distribution was terrible is to push him in to midfield. If he that as centre back will he become strong and his distribution improve in midfield. genuine question

Fans at Pools build up young players on a pedestal when they burst on onto the scene yet are just as quick to tear strips off them and say they are shite when they inevitably have a couple of bad games.

Luke James had started to get stick a couple of weeks ago.

Young lads are going to have bad games and dips in confidence. It's almost a certainty. Sometimes they need taking out of the team for a few weeks. Unfortunately with our 'thread bear' squad we don't really have that option.

this means they either start producing the goods week in week out (unlikely) or one of them gets taken out of the team (more likely) leaving the other to battle through it.

If they're gonna do that, Collins may as well be brought back in to help whoever is left!!!

To he honest shoving Baldwin into midfield may be a longer term option.. but if Cooper doesn't see it that way, for now maybe he needs dropping to the bench to get a view of what;s happening for a week or two, and being used as a sub
Best to keep picking Burgess as he's not our player... if anyone needs protecting then it has to be Baldwin as he's ours

I shudder at the thought of Baldwin in midfield with his lack of passing ability.

I have always said from the first few games he played at the back that on the deck tackling he is excellent but poor in the air. Def his weakness

You see this is exactly what I was talking about, a couple of poor performances and the kid can't pass a ball.

It's funny because I didn't notice that in the second half of the season when he was outstanding at a higher level..... in midfield.

The reason we lost yesterday was largely down to us being able to
match the high tempo pressing game that Oxford played for more than 15 minutes. The lads they had in midfield harassed and closed us down high up the pitch and didn't allow us to play out from the back. Jack Baldwin is one of the only players in our squad who can do that in midfield. He is a technically sound player as well who can certainly pass a ball.

A couple of bad games though and the kids shite.

Some of Baldwins tacles in midfield last season were fantastic. At the moment we need someone nasty in midfield who isnt afraid to get stuck in win the ball then lay it off to a playmaker. We are too nice and give other teams to much time an space to play.

We ain't got a playmaker for him to lay it off too, were already playing two defensive midfielders in there and it doesn't work. We need a creative midfielder not yet another defensive midfielder. We have needed a creative midfielder for about 5 years and do we fuck ever sign one. I don't rate Dolan or Walton by so would prefer Baldwin over them but it still won't aolve the problem.

Jack has one bad game and the fans are on his back Ffs no wonder we're nearly bottom of the league.

We are near the bottom because players are having bad games, all we are doing is watching it and commenting. Some people seem to think you have to just praise the players, management and board even when things are bad.

You think this thread is responsible for our league position? Nothing to do with bad decisions, players who shouldn't be on a pitch and the general lack of character in the squad?

Not to mention the fact that not 1 of out players has managed to play to the best of his ability for 90 minutes in a league game this season. If we could take individual performances from all the games played and get the players to replicate them in the same game I'm sure we'd be doing well. But there is a reason for all their individual ability this squad deserves to be at the bottom of L2.

There is always someone that will find something, or someone to blame, rather than the players.

Its a great way for club insiders to try and take the heat off those at the club.

If the fans supported the players better, we could be top of the league now.

Its always the fans fault.

I think after 9 games, or one fifth of the season, fans are entitled to think the players are shit if you are third bottom.

We are where we deserve to be.

Granted I havent seen as much as most on here, but I can take view on the stuff I have seen. And I think this is our worst team in donkeys years.

You could scour the Evostick leagues and Northern league and produce a better team than we have now, and they would be cheaper.

they need to... but it's Hodcroft and Green's fault they took the lazy option of renewing so many players' contracts either last season or the one before, such that we still have them at the club and have given Cooper no room to manoeuvre!!!!!!

The good thing to come out of all of this FFP lark is that the days of 4 figure weekly salaries for players in divisions 3 and 4 must be coming to an end at last

This is what is killing clubs off at the bottome end

Players either accept what the clubs can afford or go and take another job somewhere. There's only so many contracts to go about!!!!

but FFP is a joke.

But its the best excuse a club can have for saying it cant invest.

Not all clubs are using it as an excuse, but its very convenient for Ken.

that as well... but if the level of investment is the same as that of a group of people operating the running of the club for the benefit of the club and to do its best within the means at their disposal.... why as a group of fans, aren't we shouting for the removal of IOR ?

I cant believe I am saying this but Dibble is right. We all know that this FFP is bollocks and if KH/IOR/DNO wanted to invest they could via sponsorship or renaming of the ground.

We know its bollocks, KH knows its bollocks so he effectively is calling us all morons and idiots and for one am sick of it.

Coventry seem to be doing alright and they dont have a pot to piss in, are renting a ground 30miles away and had a ten point deduction.

IOR you can shove your FFP up your arse.

Baldwin was shit last week too... he's young, it will happen. The lack of experience in the team is what's seeing us do so badly. There's potential there but we can't sustain it.

Dibble out!

Baldwin has had 2 stinkers in 2 games but over the time hes played for us hes had many more good games than bad. If we are going to have to go with young players we need to accept it's going to happen, the worst thing we can do is then decide that these players can't play anymore and get on their backs.

You usually find the ones abusing the players cant even play football at pub league level.

the players should be able to ignore these cretins as they must know this too.

Nah it's more ment for matchdays with players get slagged off while there actually playing that's really gonna help ain't it! Boo all you like at full time if that floats your boat but that again won't get us points. We've got what we've got booing and slagging them off on pitch/internet is really gonna help us climb that league ain't it.

Why do you have to be able to play footy at a good level to have an opinion of a players performance?

I watch F1, golf and a range of other sports which I am crap at, this doesnt make my opinion less valid than someone who say has a handicap of below 15 or someone who did karting as a kid.

I never abuse a player at a much, despite the fact i know how to play the game and am probably faster than howard.

Im happy to vent on here after but they'll get 100% of my support during the game.

OK where do you want me to start?

You can have all the opinions you like, but even a player you consider shit is considerably better than you ever were or are likely to be.

All of these players have played the game all of their lives, and have progressed up through various levels.

They have been given their chance, and some nomark on the terrace gives them abuse because they misplace a pass.

I couldnt stand Colin Larkin, as all I could see was a bloke nearing his 30's who could do nowt but run round like a headless chicken. But I never once abused him during the game.

Tell me you dont sit watching golf and say one of the players on the tele is shit? Bearing in mind all of the players on the tele will be in the top 300 in the world.

Its all relative though isnt it. If people are watching me doing my job they review me in the arena I am in and judge me against the preformance of others at the level I am plying my trade.

Its the same here.

Ok then are you sayin AVB, Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger cant say people are shit as they haven't played the game at a good level.

your argument in nonsense

Baldwin was shit last week too... he's young, it will happen. The lack of experience in the team is what's seeing us do so badly. There's potential there but we can't sustain it.

Dibble out!

But he wasnt shit last week. He played well and make a mistake in stoppage time. This mistake was very costly but his overall performance was not shit.

I wasn't having a go, I was saying he will be inconsistent because he's young. I think he's a great player but has been thrown in at the deep end with a loanee at a time when he should be learning his trade.
