If he wasn't injured, then that substitution was shocking. 7 minutes before half time. It wasn't working for Franks down the right then why didn't Cooper switch Franks and Comptom for the remainder of thr half. That would have hammered the lads confidence. Should have waited and had a quiet word in the dressing room. IMO very bad management

It wasn't shocking but it was fairly bold , he was without any shadow of a doubt having an absolute nightmare which epitomised our first half.

Why should you wait until half time?

i found nothing wrong with it, Franks was having a nightmare. Add the fact that the player that came on really helped us get a foothold in the game, then it was a pretty good substitution IMO

Good management. Franks was having an absolute mare and deserved the hook. Nice decisive action from Cooper, no point in letting Franks piss around any longer. And Poole was a big improvement when he came on.

Franks looked shocked to come off. Amazing really after that 'performance'

Someone will have to explain to me why Compton is taking free kicks and corners, they were all dreadful.

Fook right off........Walton was a liability from the kick off.

He is the new Westwood, you know he will fook up it's just a matter of time.

I thought Franks was one of our few players that did anything first half but what do I know.

As for Comptons delivery from corners...

This makes no sense. Chris Westwood was a Rolls Royce of a centre half at our level.

Not seen him but given his age and his inability to nail down a league club for longer than 5 minutes before now, is it a surprise Compton is struggling to make the grade ?

Him and Duckworth are much better footballers than Walton.

It beats the shit out of me how he earns a crust from the game.

Mr Decker, I'm not being funny or owt, but how can you form an opinion about a player you've never actually seen play?
And as for making the grade?

I said in the other thread that id prefer Walton over Dolan on that showing. At least Walton got some tackles in as oppose to Dolan doing his best Sweeney impression.

Being subbed first half is about as in dignifying as the subbed sub.

I wonder if replacing the Mill House terrace with mirrors would improve his game.

Mourhino ruins Mata's career and Cooper destroys Franks ?

I hope the lad was playing with a slight niggle

If he wasn't don't know what to make of it to be honest

I am thinking these 2 don't get on .

Hope I'm wrong.

Anyway have a good weekend whats left of it.

Hignett and Cooper both spoke to him and consoled him
as he came off.

The lad had a mare he got subbed, he'll come back.

[quote="Chip Fireball"]I must be in a very small minority that thought he wasnt that bad. quote]

He wasn't that bad. The fact is he got the ball a fair bit, yes he hesitated a few times when he should have crossed the ball but he did a damn site more than a number of other players. Compton was anonymous in the first half (again) Frabnks was getting on the ball but there was absolutely no movement for him, the rest of our players were static.

Relegation fodder on that showing im afraid.

As Tree said, Compton should not be let anywhere near set-pieces. completely garbish.

Thank god Oxford had a number of key players out.

Franks seems to always take 1 touch too many which gives the defender time to block his attempted cross. Needs to whip a few balls in early around the defender so it falls in between the keeper n defender.

If you'd asked me on 35 mins who to sub I wouldn't have said him like

He seems to have tunnel vision, he gets the ball and his head goes down. He seems unaware of when he has time and space to put over a cross and when he needs to make a half yard to do it.

He's always looked better centrally getting shots off than creating chances for others out wide for me.

If Franks got the ball 10 times today I reckon he lost possession badly 9 times, he barely made the correct decision in possesion once. The final straw was when he cut inside with a chance to shoot but instead overhit a pass out of play with his left foot. He had a total shocker. Compton in that opening period was more on anonymous than terrible. As soon as Poole started getting stripped I knew was getting the hook. Maybe that's because we have a right footed left back and two right footed holding midfielders that our passing is more focused towards the tight flank giving Franks more opportunity to be shit.

No Cyril Knowles so a good position to witness Franks's performance.

I noticed that but couldn't really see what was going on. It did appear to be a frank exchange of views! Some definite finger wagging on Hignett's part he then took to field at full time to clap the fans left in the ground and tell the ref he was as bad as the last ten we've seen.

At the time when Franks was substituted Compton was completely anonymous and Walton was consistently passing the ball to a yellow shirt, long balls short balls, it made no difference. We couldn't get into the game in the first half because we kept giving the ball away. After 5 minutes Walton looked knackered. In fact, when he was substituted and ran(?) off, it was the fastest he had moved all afternoon. What is he...25? 26? These should be his peak years. If a player is so clearly unfit, then effectively we are playing with 10 men.

Is it just me that thinks neither of the wingers are good enough? Compton is starting to show improvements on the field but still miles from good enough.

I know this debate went on last week that Compton is missing his family etc, but I too work away from home and don't bleet on about missing my family through social media sites. He chose to be a footballer and that would stand a good chance of moving away from his comfort zone. Either move your family closer to your work or man up and get on with it. He didn't look like he was missing home in showroom last night.

As for Franks. He only looks effective when the ball is played from midfield and over the back of defenders for him to run on to.

Franks was awful. Compton improved when he went of as If he felt the same fate. Can't fault his 2nd half Performance apart from his corners. Walton was terrible from start to finish and deserved franks fate more than him. He had a go at the defence for the 1st as though he dosnt fuck up then played pass after pass wayward ultimately costing us the 2nd. Franks was not good but Walton was way worse

The truth of the matter is we have a wafer thin squad with a number of players who are just not good enough. Of the last six signings made by the club only one, Duckworth, is worth his place. I am not including the loan signings who are not exactly setting this league alight either. The owners must give Cooper some financial backing in order to strengthen the side or we will be playing in the Conference next season. This squad would even struggle in that league.

When i saw Poole ready to come on, only franks and Walton sprang to mind. Quite embarressing but justified
