Each to there own but IMO there fans are awful. Only been twice but on both occasions every poolie in the pubs we were in was threatened. Crack like " you a geordie, well fuck off back up there or ill glass ya". Was only 18 and don't need to hear shit like that.

Majority probably sound but in my 2 visits there wouldn't recommend the place. Ordering a pint shouldn't be a reason to be threatened to be glassedby a dozen lunatics. Nowadays id probably say something back which wouldn't be the best option so ain't bothering.

Jeff stelling and c4 racing for me

Then we will get a bucket from the Colonel Sanders and settle down in front of the box
for a afternoon with the legend Jeff Stelling and my £5.00 acca.
Sorted.

Well we will be going to both.

Have been to Mansfield a few times now and only once seen any trouble ..... and that seemed to be caused by Poolies rather than anyone from Mansfield. Never been threatened or intimidated at all. So seems we might be there alone bbolt bbolt

There was hostility between Mansfield and Pools fans a few years ago after a Pools fan got injured on the first day of the season at the Vic. The Blue Order took a double decker bus down there a few months later for the away leg, smashed the pub up, caused bother inside and then jumped straight on their bus outside the game after whilst the rest of us were left dodging all of their lunatics.

On another occasion I almost got booted off a police horse after a couple of Pools fans started swinging their arms around at their fans for no real reason.

I've been a few other times and not had a hint of bother, the pub next to the ground beside the lake has always been hospitable (apart from when the Order smashed it up) so you'll probabably be ok for a beer in there.

How much is it to get in at Sheff Utd? If it's a tenner or less I'll probably go.

I've seen us play there about 8 times and there is usually an undercurrent of chew if not actual chew. If you go in the pub near the lake (Early Doors?) you should be OK. Avoid the pubs in the centre as they are simply awful as well as being menacing.

Didn't we play them away a few years ago on new years day ?

If it was we took a bus full down and had organised a boozer on the outskirts to accommodate us, they put a spread on and we had not been there longer than 10 minutes and the coppers swarmed all over the place with dogs.

2 coppers jumped on the bus to go to the ground as there was a few nutters on the bus when one of the lads dropped his trousers and started walking up and down the bus in there lasses thong  the coppers face where a picture

As with most clubs, the vast majority of Mansfield fans are sound. The ones I've met over the years always go on about the game we lost 4-3 after leading 3-1 with less than ten minutes on the clock. For them it is one of their 'classic' games, a bit like our 3-0 at the White Elephant.

I've told them it was us that threw it away rather than them winning it, but they like to think of it on a par with Liverpool v Milan in the European Runners-Up final.

spent a few years working in staveley and then later in Mansfield.the place is like pools without the sea.all the above negative comments could be levelled at visitors to pools over the years too

They're similar in size, levels of deprivation, and both being near larger cities, but Mansfield patter is shite and they're not the friendliest. I've worked up there too and it wasn't very pleasant.

"Is anyone one at all in the world apart from people here watching" might of been a better song.

stags fan here. couple of points lads, the early doors pub next to the lake is now an indian restaurant, but for family type, peaceful pint walk about five minutes up notts road past b and q and kfc and there is the Talbot pub on the left. Not far from the station and the ground is the railway pub with real ale, quite small but welcoming. In town the pubs are a bit rough and the beer and women rougher, so if you want a pub the two aforementioned are the best bet

the supporters bar at the ground is open but tends to get busy after two

have a safe trip
