I had a lengthy discussion last night with a Chesterfield fan who reckoned Ritchie is playing out of his skin and is one of their best signings ever and the main reason they are top of the league. He's playing left back as well.

I'll be the first to admit I was critical of Ritchie last season but sometimes players do need a change of scenery, I mean look at Liddle for Notts County, done a clean sweep of awards in his first season.

New team, new challenge and playing full back in a faster team that are attacking a lot of the time. You can imagine Ritchie being better in that setting than as a senior pro in an ageing side that are getting slower by the year, defending a lot and very short of creativity. Pools were stagnating, changes were urgently needed and long overdue. Even if he hadn't wanted to he would have undermined Cooper and Hignett if he'd stayed. Good to see ex-players doing well but I don't think he would have been having a great season here and moving him on was a positive thing to do. The fact that a few more should have gone as well doesn't change that.

spot on... his time was up at Pools, so was Liddle's etc etc... also the time is up for a few of the players still here..... we move on

I would rather new and upcoming players come through in a team that is looking to throw off the mantle of losing

Whether people on here like it or not Humphreys was VERY much part of that losing team... the cull was nowhere near what it should have been. He will also not have been on much less than 1.5 - 2 grand a week I suspect, which made it an even easier decision to get rid of him so far as I'm concerned!!!!

Anyway the same could be said of players who stagnated elsewhere and went on to do well here.... this is football, and life in general

He needed a new challenge and got one

Fair play to him for doing well.... doesn't mean I want him anywhere near our team again!!!

I don't disagree with any of that Chip it still doesn't get away from how much rubbish has been spouted about him on here people said he couldn't move and but he's now starting every week for the team at the top of the division.

Mind I not convinced this division is very good to be honest, I'm yet to see a decent team.

What rubbish was spouted about him?

He was pretty gash playing centre mid for us the past few years, which is probably why he's playing left back now.

Most sensible pools fans will admit he was here a wee bit too long, the rest are just In denial or are plain wrong.

It was absolutely the correct thing to do to move on from him as a player.

But that is not my point.

On here people sneered at and mocked the bloke for wanting to continue playing suggesting nobody at football league or even conference level would touch him.

The main reason chesterfield are top is they spent good money on very good players at this level.

Gary Roberts for example who I predicted (once again correctly) was an outstanding signing and has bagged 4 already from midfield, with as many assists.
Some on here were not impressed but needless to say I was right again ;)

Check the Ashes thread.

He was wrong more than anyone has ever been wrong. Even more wrong than when Ritchies Birthmark said that Richie Barker got Danny Wilson sacked and refused to back down even when it was pointed out that;

a) Wilson wasn't sacked
b) Barker was playing for Rotherham

Two minor details admittedly.

PJ is just annoyed as I occasionally remind him of his pre season prediction, and I quote
'Sam Collins has the experience and class to cruise through league 2'.... Arf :)

No I didn't can't you read and he still might have a decent season, he did ok on Saturday when he came on. The way Austin hobbled off and with Dolan possibly injured he might start on Saturday.

Some idiot best ignored !
In all seriousness if Exeter keep it up their boss has done an outstanding job
I expected cheltenham and Northampton to be swapped with morecambe and Exeter , may still happen as early days.

I enjoy predicting stuff, some I get right , some wrong

Again only my opinion but respect posters opinions more who stick their neck out and predict as oppose to pontificating but not giving a prediction

Remind us what you said about Duckworth.

Don't believe I said anything about him personally, I did say it was worrying at the time we were recruiting exclusively from lower leagues, but that was a comment on our small budget and constraints cooper was under, which in my opinion still stands
Ps if it turns out I did I was misquoted!

Dolan didnt look too injured Saturday night when splashing the cash on jäger bombs for himself and the youth team.
