Both linked with Carlisle job-either would be a good shout- Never sure about JH but did a fecking good job given all the crap he was working through-no money, no chance to bring own staff, no relationship with RG and lumbered with a shit squad- I'd go Hughes over Wilson for them based on his ability to manage with sod all and almost pulling off the great escape.

Although he was treat badly I hardly think Hughes nearly pulled off the great escape we were effectively relegated by two nil nil home draws with 8 or 9 games left and officially with 3 left. Hardly a close run thing and if it wasn't for Pompey losing points we would have finished bottom.

If I was Carlisle fan I'd be much happier with Wilson I reckon.

to be fair, we never really "ALMOST" pulled off safety at any tiime did we..... we never got within 7 points of the safety mark at any time... I would say that means we never got anywhere near looking like we were going to get to safety if I'm being honest

(although I agree what he did do was make the points total more "respectable" than what it otherwise would have been)./.. in reality that's all he did
