Official site looking for suggestions for Pools best ever manager, as part of the League's 125th Anniversary celebrations. Obviously most people will go for more recent managers, but I would vote for Fred Westgarth, despite the fact he was just a little before my time.

I'd vote for Cyril Knowles, though the best manager to have managed Pools was certainly Clough.

Shame you have to use twatter to vote.

Only two managers have got us within spitting distance of tier two, Westgarth and Cooper, although the latter didn't hang around for the climax.

But Westgarth had a positive return from over 500 games, ended only by his death. So it's a Shoe Inn for me.

All a bit of froth, but like the player of the century nonsense, you can only really comment on what you've seen. I suppose to get a true picture you'd need to have seen every manager we've ever employed and there's the problem.... for all we know we might have had a belter of a manager in 1911......!

I'm surprised you have to vote on twitter, because normally they delete anything you post on the page anyway!!

The actual vote will be on the FL website, Pools themselves are just asking for nominations on Twitter so they can submit a list to the FL.

I'm disappointed we never got to have any of the following as boss

Tommy Brown (Fulchester)
Gus Parker (Grimethorpe)
Mike Bassett (England)
Ron Manager (pundit)

She wouldn't have come here anyway, too far north.

I've had her.

Neale Cooper for me. If he could have kept it together, we'd have won that day. Clough second but he was too good for us, and he very quickly proved that.
