How can this be right Portsmouth have already made 9 signings in the close season and they are wanting even more. Going bankrupt surely means you have no money. They had 10 points deducted past season when they were already relegated, should have been this coming season to have any effect as a punishment and now they are signing every man and his dog to try and guarantee promotion. Where is the level playing field?

Arnt they allowed to budget based upon the massive crowds they will get over the season, sadly we cannot do this.

I think they are still getting the last years worth of parachute payments as well. You would have thought that should have gone to their creditors but I don't think it does.

Did they have 10 points deducted when relegated from the Championship?

they had a 9m parachute payment to kick start their season, it's clearly an injustice to all their previous creditors, who have to sit and watch them piss another 9m up the wall while they're getting their 10p in the £.

They are apparently working to a playing budget of £1.2m this season, they have 'lost out' on a guy they had last season, Therry Racon, as he was asking for £4,000 a week and they couldn't/wouldn't pay it.

It sounds like they have signed a lot of players, but I think the reality is they had only a handful of contracted players last season, so many of the signings are actually players committed to real contracts not just month to month deals. They have signed 14 players and now have a completed squad of 22 players. 5 of those players are from their 'development group'.

They've also sold 7600 season tickets for the new season. With prices of Adult - £360, Senior - £270, Young Person - £ 270, Junior £90, so a rubbish average calculation would see a season ticket income of £2.2m already.

I'm in Portsmouth now. I think I'll have a few pints then go and give the profligate buggers a piece of my mind. If they're open.

And if I see that twat who always used to be in the crowd when they were on the telly (the one with tattoos and dreads and a big daft hat), I'll vomit on his shoes.

I'm not entirely sure, but one of their old owners still has their ground as security on 6 mill so the parachute payment might get eaten up. Mind in the world of accountancy, they could leave him to start a court case that could be more expensive than just walking away.

Sure thing is though, they're still on very rocky ground. Supporters trusts are nice to imagine but not to be relied on.

I thought they got the ground in the last court case.

I'm working me way through them, in the third one now but haven't found one which matches your description. I'll report on the other thread.

Right, if my drunken memory is semi reasonable it's set back from the sea front but facing the sea, possibly near to the pier and not far from the casino. Only a small place, might be on a corner but I don't think that it is.

They might well have done, marra. I haven't stayed with the story. But they shouldn't have done.
