Wonder if we change formation this year maybe a bit more attacking in League Two? I hope so as that 4-5-1 we've played the last few seasons is shite :?

The fact he's signed an out and out winger and is looking for a striker suggests we'll be going for a 4-4-2. What I'd like to see is a team capable of adapting if things aren't going our way.

We still need an attacking/disruptive midfielder, not a team full of wingers pretending to be midfielders. I see Walton as a holding midfielder, after him I cant see anyone who fits the bill of an attackminded creative mid-man, I know they dont come cheap, but for me unless we find someone we'll just go from having the worst midfield in league 1 to the worst in Lg.2.
Unless one of our younger players comes through and establishes themselves.

I see him as a creative attacker who can take players on, play a good pass and score from outside the box. We have Compton and Franks for the wings, James and A.N. Other up front. We have Sweeney, Poole, Monkhouse, Rowbotham, Rutherford and Hawkins fighting over one place as far as I can see. Really can't see us signing another midfielder, we also have Baldwin and Walton fighting for the DM spot (if it's a 442).

It's a new season so new starts but I can't help feeling we'll struggle if we play Sweeney in a 4-4-2. I'm sticking by what I've said for a couple of seasons he can't play in a 4-4-2. I'm open to being proved wrong by him. But if he hasn't been capable of it for couple of seasons I don't see him being capable of it this season. Just my opinion. Like I said new season ,new start.

Sweeney is another whose day has came and went as a footballer in the pro ranks. It took an eternity to finally get rid of Humphreys and I suspect Sweeney will be the next one to be hanging around way too long after his sell by date. I really really hope Cooper finds a club for Sweeney to be farmed out to, sooner rather than later

Otherwise he could only be used in a 5 man midfield as anyone who has ever watched him would know, and only to latch onto balls beyond the defence. A good footballer in the centre of the park as the original poster has said, would make all the difference in the world to Pools' midfield
