I have a Boro supporting mate who watches a bit of Pools as well and he spent all last season telling me Flinders is a far better keeper than Steele, who according to him doesn't command his area at all and is too small.

Sunderland make some really shit signings so it's believable!

Sunderland have Westwood I don't think they'd go for Steele even if Mignolet goes. Unless it as number 2 to Westwood.

Westwood isn't a Premiership standard keeper either, half decent Championship at best.

On the subject of keepers, came out of the spa at our hotel in Albufeira yesterday afternoon and had my pools training top on, bloke sat in the bar area says hartlepool united top eh, do you go to games I used to play for them a few years back, when I asks 1996 was the reply and I was a keeper, you must be Brian Horne says I and the gentleman confirmed it was indeed the legend that was mr Brian Horne. And we reminisced about the penalty shoot out against Scarborough where he scored the winner according to him.

Did you break into a rendition of 'No.1 is Brian Horne, No.2 is Brian Horne......etc'?

Ah yes a classic example of what was wrong with our club back then

Brian Horne , from England u 21s to bottom of the league in 3 or 4 years.
A total waster who was perceived as a 'good lad' because he was a character to the lads behind a goal and loved a drink in the town.

The likes of him and mark cooper took the piss out of Hornsey and the club in terms of effort put in vs talent they had

to be fair to Horne, he did have a fair few good games where he won us the points... Fulham at home 1-0 should have been 6-1 to them. I still don't know how we won that

Well I think he is a better Keeper than Steele so why wouldnt Sunderland go for him or Boro for that matter.
