Just seen his name linked with Pools on Twitter and Facebook, not to surprised to be linked with him being ex Boro ... 32 year old and only played 3 times last season, not too sure what to think on this one... Probably a shite rumour mind.

It was actually a tweet by the Pools supports of Brazil?

"A informação que acaba de sair,é que o Hartlepool negocia vinda de Julio Arca, jogador do Middlesbrough, ele que tem 32 anos!"

"The information that has just come out, is that the Hartlepool negotiates coming of Julio Arca, Middlesbrough player, that he is 32 years old!"

So we're negotiating the fact he's 32 years old? Pools don't half go around things the long way, just look at his passport Maureen!

Another slow centre midfielder, just what we need.

The only Sunderland player ever to score a goal against Pools in a competitive match. That's quite a feat.

was a good left back, left winger and then centre mid years ago but these last few years hes had a few bad injuries n he's lost any pace or sharpness he'd be a terrible signing and would be up their was solano and howard IMO.

I can't believe he is only 32, I honestly thought he was about 36/37

How can you say he'd be a terrible signing yubep? I agree he's been hampered by injuries the last couple of years, but, how do you know that he'd not do well at our level with a run of games? Talking shite as usual I see.

You have to be a bit wary, especially with our experience over the past few seasons. That said, it's just speculation, but if the unlikely were to occur, you have to back your managers judgement.

I would question Arcas judgement and decision making, he purchased a Mini for his bird from Carcraft, I worked there at the time and the salesman couldn`t believe he didn`t ask for anything off :o

Carcraft cars have a 1k bung stuck on them above value and use the 140 point check that they will be quality, in the 6 months I worked there, 1 burst into flames as it was driving off, 3 broke down before they left the car park and 1 was a chop shop job the mechanic failed to spot during the 140 point check banghead

I'm hardly talking shite I'm just giving an opinion mate. He's barely kicked a ball in anger in yonks n even before then he looked about as slow as Howard with a turning circle of the titanic.

Great player in his day don't get me wrong.

But he'd be on a canny wage at this level that could probably get us 2/3 players that could add more to the squad overall.

He'd just be another solano for me, and I'd like to think we'd learnt our lesson from that.

That's why pools are investigating his age IMHO opinion.

If we chopped off Arca's leg couldn't we just look at the rings? There really are so many ways to go about this and it's plain to see why we're going backwards as a club.

Arca was never properly accepted by Boro fans IMO.
I personally think he's a beter player than he gets credit for.
Maybe he's not the quickest , and obviously he's getting on a bit , but i reckon he's got a good "footballing brain" and could do well at Hartlepool

I can't see what damage giving him a trial would do. Let's not forget, we need experience in the team, and if he is anything like Paul Murray, he could be a useful player.

Why would a guy who has had a decent career in the Championship and Premier League consider coming for a trial to a Fourth Division club. He can expect offers from bigger and better clubs than Pools.

Solano and Beardsley came to Pools though.

Well, because he knows Colin Cooper?? Maybe likes him? Lives locally?? I'm not saying it's happening, like, but when he played for Sunderland against Pools he was the best man on the pitch.

Him and Poom the difference between a draw(at worst) and Sunderland back at the Vic in 2004

They were both a lot older than Arca when they came to Pools. Both were finished. The only way Arca would come is that if he is settled in the North East and doesn't want to move house. And he doesn't mind taking a huge cut in wages.

and both were a lot older than 32 when they came. Why do some people write a player off just cos they are turned 30. Ryan Giggs seems to be doing OK.

think he means that the draw would have meant a replay back at the vic. Maybe :confusion-shrug:

Arca hardly played last season, I wouldn't want to see us sign him on decent wages for him to play 3 or 4 times. Ryan Giggs is superhuman.

Certainly a super shagger by all accounts. Especially with his brother's missus.

I suppose it's why he didn't play last season, has he recovered and will he get a pre-season? See what happens.
