The things I mentioned, Rang and bone men, lemonade vand and Ringtons Tea deliveries, baffle people down here when I talk about them they think I grew up in war times or something and I was shocked that they didnt have these thing when a kid.

we have neices n newphews about 8/9/10 year old n they've never played out.

At that age we'd leave the house about 10ish on our bikes, go everywhere, crimdon dene, the beach, play footy etc and we wouldnt come home till it was getting dark.

Aye same here, we'd play on the back hills, bike to Dalton Piercy, wolviston, greatham etc.. have a water fight, game of walley then go home.

Actually, none of us had much. You never see kids with the front of their shoes flapping about these days either. Knees, thats another thing; I spend my entire childhood with skinless knees.

The reason for this is the media causing parents to be scared that as soon as their little darling goes out there is a scary person at the end of the road that will take them away.
