He fully deserves any plaudits that come his way tonight. Very much a mark Tinkler style performance. Needs to do it regularly now.

the lad captained a struggling team away from the foot of the league under immense pressure ... I can't believe there's not a proper footballer in there.. cos I believe there is.

Played very well and won 2 crunching tackles. All we ask is effort.

Mam of the match easily and was basically outstanding.

Well played, please keep it up

Be interesting to see what happens when Sweeney and Howard are fit again. Hope Hughes has the strength to do the right thing.

Great performance today lads.

never thought id hear the town end singing theres only one simon walton, but full deserved. I was watching him off the ball when the chances were there and he never stopped talking to the team, dictating and commanding the midfield.

Top drawer Simon Walton, lets hope we can take this win on now and get at least a point away at swindon next week. 3 would be ideal but i'll be happy with a point

Walton was outstanding today. I think before today he has always shown willing and was one of the few constantly looking for the ball. Today he ran the show for me.

Can I point out I was saying that from the pre season games. he just appeared to be trying to prove me wrong.

I was also saying it to my Dad at the start of the season, he was far from convinced..........however today he said one of the standout moments for him came when Walton chased in the second half and stuck a great tackle in and orchestrated the cheers from the CK stand.....

Was thinking along the same lines, the way he is always talking to the players, encouraging, directing........is that not what a captain should be doing? (Unlike "Silent Sam" used to do)

I think he won a lot over today. He now has to carry it on. Maybe the run of games has give him confidence and even got him fitter(tho as pro football player he should be fit, so not making excuses) Captain I also said that after his performances in the pre season friendlies. The problem is why hasn't he shown that in previous games ?? I do believe it a confidence thing and with 2 by 90 minutes and a man of the match behind him,he'll hopefully build from it. he may be playing league 2 with Pools next season but performances like that will only make him a stand out player in that league. Might even send him a tweet sometime

Credit where credit's due. Walton had a fine game today so hats off to him. It shows he has the ability to compete at this level. He now needs to produce this form week in week out and the fans will love him.

Ahh, so one game leads you to the fact he is good enough and not the shit you spouted last week....

Let's face it - like many of our current players - Walton is simply not good enough for League 1. I have nothing against the guy but he just isn't good enough and the sooner fans and the Board accept this the better.

Kirsty

Personally I think we have quite a few in the current squad who are good enough for this level. I really believe our problem has been howard. He was never in the box and too slow. We have pace up front now and that will make a difference. Would never have got there for the first goal yesterday. We need to believe that we can still do it. This month is massiv.
