As far as debuts go he had a good one, the ball he put in for Daly was excellent. Plus I think that with him playing gave Sweeney the confidence to get forward more and he had his best game for a while, he had this uncanny knack of being in the right place to mop up any loose ball which was good. Looks to be another good signing by Danny boy.

He played well as did most of the team.
Just a left back and maybe left winger to sort out now and thats a very good starting 11.

richey for left back
braka's tackle was stupid
the guy and the ball was going no where
if that is a sample of pools getting tough forget it

I agree with Dibble - Daly was awesome

Don't entirely agree about Robson, he was poor in the first half, seemed to lack confidence, but made some very good runs in the second half

Sweeney was superb - at last

Boston were a very poor side, but in the past few weeks we would have struggled to beat them, but we got the result we needed, which should help. One swallow doesn't make a summer, but it's an indication summer is on the way, so quite promising IMHO

none of you can seriously want him to start the next game..... can you ?

It doesn't really matter whether you, chip fireball, think Daly is a carthorse or not. In fact it doesn't matter whether he really IS a carthorse or not. We get better results when he plays. *Fact*. Just like England getter better results when Crouch plays.

OK, OK. Porter wasn't really an option last season so we're probably right to give him a chance, but so far he's the one with the proving to do.

I'm sure Porter would be snapped up in ten minutes but I really don't see what his popularity with other clubs has to do with Pools maximising their points haul.

You point out Boyd and Porter as a partnership that got us to sixth place but you could just as easily have pointed out Boyd and Sweeney. Yes, his 14 league goals were a reasonable haul for a second string striker, but he's only done it once.
In that one good season it took him seven games to find the net and get his scoring act going, so by all means give him his chance. But as far as I'm concerned he's got it all to prove again, with a lot of misses to his name this season already so far.

What I'm saying about big Jon is that last season, 8 of our 13 victories came in the 21 games he started, with only 6 defeats in those games. It would take a lot of clever analysis to explain why, but it did happen and that's a fact. I'm not saying (yet) that he should start every game but he should certainly not be discounted.
Look at Steve Howard. He only scored 7-8 goals a season when he was Jon's age. And when he moved to Northampton he did even worse at the start. That sure changed soon afterwards though.

A good twenty minutes doesnt mean a whole career has been turned around. John played well last night but he's promised before on a couple of occasions. 90 percent of the time, in my opinion, he's offered very little to nothing. I hope the goal gives him confidence as he obviously needs some. Brown didnt do a great deal on Friday night ( though he was rarely given the ball in space) so maybe John will get a chance against MK Dons.
Agree our left side and Eifion were poor. Both wingers kept coming inside too much, though Robson did better in the second half.
Liddle doesnt look a centre half to me, though thought he did well. Still completely baffled why Ben Clark was dropped.
As for Boland, my mate said at half time he wasnt offering any more than Strachan and I agreed. But I thought he got more influential as time went on, gave a couple of roastings out to our players.
Hopefully Gibb will be up to something then we just need to sort the left side out. Personally I'd much rather have Humpty playing left back than Bracka.
Not sure we'll get a result on Saturday but hopefully the win will have started us turning the corner.
