Never bothered with a chopper(slightly before my time!)

My first bmx was a Raleigh Burner for xmas 1983, i then progressed to a silver Mongoose with white tuffs, trick nuts and cee-dubs :sweeeet:

I used to get some injuries from riding bikes like

I watched Kev O'Connor do a 'tabletop' down the old bmx track near the train station so i tried to do one on a four brick ramp in Thornville Road back alley and smashed me fookin chin in

Then the old girl got me a pair of Hutch Beartrap pedals for xmas and on boxing day i slipped while i was pedalling and ended up with 8 stitches in me shin rage .....absolute fookin agony that was!

I had a Torker 280 frame with Landing Gear forks.
CW bars, Suntour stem and Hutch crank and Beartrap pedals!!! :sweeeet:

I was well into the bmx scene, and could often be found down 'the track' in church street, and when i wasnt there, i'd be racing at teeside airport, or at the indoor meets at eston

I remember a few names from that era, Daz Jones, Mooney,Tubby, Eggy, and of course Kev O Connor, who was seen as a bit of a hero in bmx circles!!!

Happy, happy days!

I had a Grifter with the mudguards warn by bending them onto the tire to make a motorbike noise. had a Chopper too, excellent for wheelies, got a Super Burner peeled the gold paint off it and bought some GT handle bars and MX seat.

We used to use old plastic drinks cartons to make our motorbike noise.

I know I had a BMX it was yellow and blue but I can't remember what the make was.

I also wore out loads of pairs of trainers when I used to use my foot as a brake on my back wheel
