There are so many things wrong with that statement - from the head in sand inability to recognise a crisis, to the reference to a made up sky daddy, to the pure illiteracy of it all.

Dear Mr Hartley,

As much as it was 'nice' to read your recent theological musings on Twitter, let me inform you a little bit as to the 'battles' God gives out to people. Probably the hardest battle is the one God reserves for babies, mainly in Africa, born with AIDS. As well as that, there are of course people in this country, in this town, born into a life of poverty and every day of their lives they face the battle of providing for their family and trying to cope with the social problems around them, caused by those who can't be arsed to do so.

One in four of the kids, whose parents skimp and save to buy them a season ticket to watch you , are classed by the government as living in poverty. They had no choice in that little 'battle' reserved for them.

Other battles reserved for people by God are: a life of child labour, prostitution, people trafficking, drug addiction, sexual abuse and such like.

Your 'battle' in life involves kicking a football from one end of some grass to the other for an hour and a half a week. You are paid several thousand pounds per month to do it. In addition, I'm assuming that you are classifying yourself as one of the 'brave soldiers' you referred to in your tweet?

If this is the case, please don't kid yourself. You are not brave, you are not a soldier. The real brave soldiers are currently out in Afghanistan, taking bullets for us and putting their bodies on the line.

You will however, one day soon, face a real battle in life. You're 24, playing football very badly for Hartlepool United. You and a lot of your fellow 'soldiers' will soon be getting your P45s, and it's hard to imagine what else you'd be good at in life. You're not even good at football, the thing you're supposed to be good at.
Within a couple of years, ideally a lot sooner, you’ll find yourself out of football with 30 odd years of your working life still to go. That’s when your real battle starts. Good luck soldier. I hope you make a better fist of it than you did the shot God gave you as a footballer.

Kind regards

Voice of Reason

P.S welcome to the board!

Surely Baldwin has to start from now on. Both centre backs are beaten time and time again. Holden was abysmal today also.we defend like an average pub team at times.

Is Paul Johnson injured?? If not how Collins and Hartley can retain there place is beyond me. 5-0 5-0 5-0 6-1 says it all and only in mid November

I remember the amount of times you have posted on here wanting Holden in the team because you thought Horwood was not good enough...about half of your posts will be desperate pleas to Wadsworth and Cooper demanding for Holden to be put in the team because you had seen him play like Maldini in the reserves.

Mate, you look a bit silly now.

He had to be tried though. End of day he's paid to play football. For all
Who said he's not good enough I'd say you had it spot on.

everybody makes wrong judgements time to time, coming on here and gloating that someone did is completely pointless

Come on MisterB, you can't blame people for wanting a bit of points scoring. Especially as it's certainly not happening on the pitch.
