A bit harsh on Horwood and Monkhouse.

I'd give Cooper a 4, the formation didn't really work the centre of our midfield went missing again and I have no idea why Franks and Monky played on the wrong side. Franks was consistently putting crosses over with his left foot. We've got a big centre forward surely the idea would be Franks whipping crosses over from his natural side onto Howards head?

Surely for the away games this week he's going to bring Murray into the midfield leave out Poole and play Franks and Monkhouse in a 4-3-3/4-5-1 because you can see why we got stuffed at Crewe playing like that.

Not much difference but for me I'd say

Flinders- 7
Austin- 7
Horwood- 5
Collins- 6
Hartley- 6
Walton- 6
Sweeney- 6
Monkhouse- 5
Franks- 6
Howard- 7
Poole- 4
James- 5

Horwood looked vulnerable, Walton is still settling down, looks very frustrated with his teammates at times. Franks has a lot of potential and will develop with a run in the side. Monkhouse was in and out of the game, but he's not going to provide any crosses for Howard, that doesn't appear to be his game anymore.

My biggest worry is a partner for Howard. Poole looks very low on confidence, James is struggling to recapture the form he showed when a burst on the scene. But Howard needs a regular partner to get an understanding going. I'd love that to be Noble from up the road.

As for not playing Murray, it's a long long season, there's plenty of time for him to come in. It was bloody hot yesterday, I wouldn't have liked to play in that, Sam Collins said he lost 8lb during the game!!

You also had time to go home, do your hair and pedal down to Pools for the match.
If Pools need a motivational trainer the jobs yours!!

I'd have given Franks a 6, in fact all of the team would have got a 6 for the effort they put in against a very dangerous side!!

The ref and the linesman on the Cyril Knowles side both got a 2 imo.

Pools player wouldn't let me sign in so they get a 0 and the BBC Tees coverage was typed by a thick robot so I can't give them better than 1.

got to agree that we really don't seem to have a plan B but I thought we deserved a draw and have no doubt we'd have lost that game last season.

What the fook was Hartley doing for the penner by the way banghead i think it was Hartley that slipped bbolt

Not sure how Austin got a 7 - Monkhouse cut out more crosses in to our box than he did.

I though monkey played well by his own recent poor standards, don't think he was worth a 9 though

I just thought their winger was getting his crosses over without any difficulty when Austin was marking him. He also put in a few late tackles during the game which to me shows he is struggling with the pace of the game. A great player for us a few year ago but I think we should be looking for a replacement.
