Now I am not basing this post on results so far,1 point is actually better than I expected at this stage despite what some of the happy clappy brigade were coming out with.

What is pissing me off though is the general attitude and comments in the media all pre-season

We get well beaten in our first friendly and a local reporter commenst improvements are needed.
What happens?--Our club captain goes off in a fit of pique lamenting the'sacrifices' the players have made (training I think he meant) and basically shouting down anyone who dare criticise them.

Pre-season continues and we have players talking about being in and amongst the play-offs?--What do they base this shite on?--Its nice to have confidence but if you are going to make statements like that you need to back it up or be guilty of a complete lack of self-awareness (I actually think that is the problem)

So the first game comes about and its a shambles..a 5-0 hammering.

Then the Swindon game, a 0-0 draw at home thanks to a missed penalty and suddenly they are all talking about the great improvement and according to I thinkit was Austin 'normal service' being resumed.

So a 5-0 hammering is oiur baseline for comparison???
Normal service?? what does that mean--normal service last season at home was utter shite for the most part...seriously what is meant by normal service....again a complete lack of self awareness, they believe normal service last year was some sort of achievement-even though it got us nowhere near the play-offs last year which was this years stated goal.

The thing is people always talk about the way to improve being looking at the small things and getting them to add up into something bigger.
Given the attitude does anyone really think that the players are going to have enough self reflection to do that?
I can understand us losing games, I just really struggle with this gap between fantasy and reality the team seems to have about how good we are and the aversion to any criticism.
