Normally after the mid-season interval Im really looking forward to the new season. This year, presumbly due to the spectacle of the olympics, the football season seems less significant.

While im not a major fan of the premier league, i had completely forgotten about the Charity Shield, and I have no idea who the premier league clubs have signed ahead of the new season.

Can we not have the Olympics all year round??

In Top Flight Football (tm), Europe's top spenders for the last two seasons once again dismally failed to impress in their opening match, being held to an embarrassing home draw that was within a whisker of being a defeat.

Congrats to Toulouse btw on their momentous achievement of grabbing a point at Montpellier despite being down to 9 men (against 10).
Can't argue with any of the dismissals, like.
