Already every player has been written off by all and sundry except franks.

It may have been a piss poor performance and i am pleased i missed it but theres a lot of heavy shit been thrown about already by people who were praising the team strongly after a few friendlies.

i like mad johns analysis.- can talk.about the match without wanting to sack them all and jump in the tees.

Theres others who should know better who have seen.year in.year out and theres those who cant speak proper england but can type as if.they can type as tho they were managers

Exactly it's one game, yes the result was chastening but let's not lose sight of it being one game. Even in good seasons you're going to suffer gubbings. Crewe away was always a very tough start, I didn't expect us to crumble as easily as that but we'll learn something about the squad next week because if they aren't determined to get on the Vic and put that right we do have reason to panic. I'm still looking forward to next week,I reckon it will be a cracker. Yesterdays gone, the real season starts next week.

The most frustrating thing is that the opening day line-up have basically played together for the last 4 games, Cooper has put faith in them and that is what they do on the first day.

I don't think that enough new players have been signed to just dis-regard the tactics used in the last few seasons. I know Cooper wants to play 4-4-2 with wingers but if those tactics are going to be used away from home then the games will be very open.

I watched 3 friendlies were we played the same team and we looked ok, nothing better, at times we couldnt get the ball but when we did we moved it forward quickly to Howard who looked good. The players who I thought did not look too sharp in particular were James, Sweeney (in a 4 man midfield) and the full backs.
I cant understand why Cooper didnt mix it around a bit and try a few different player/formations, instead of obviously making his mind up what he was going to do months ago.
I wasnt at the game yesterday but surely he should have reacted and changed things around after their 2nd/3rd goal went in. At the very least got Murray on for a bit of damage limitation.

Well I was there yesterday and I am normally an optimist but that was as worrying a line up of what is considered our first team for many a year. Time will tell, people who weren't there seem to be focussing on the defence, I can tell you that when you are totally outplayed in the middle of the park you are going to concede. With that midfield line up we will be very open To concede goals every week and it will be unfair to blame the defence.

I have very very strong views about our midfield line up but will refrain for now until the season gets into its swing and I read what people think in a few weeks. But let's put it like this, any manager who bins Paul Murray from that group I have very serious doubts about. His age shouldn't matter he is a class above the others as an all round footballer and should play.

Anyway let's see how it goes, liked the look of Franks and I thought Howard did ok however our tactics were generally long ball and Crewe gave us a football lesson in movement, fluidity and not playing a rigid system.
