As announced by Goffy at the meeting one of Hartlepool's best sporting exports Steve Fletcher has agreed to be vice-president of MHAAG. Look out for reports in tomorrow's Hartlepool Mail and Northern Echo.

For those that don't know or remember him here's Mad John's stats on him.

After two seasons with Pools he went on to have a great career with Bournemouth. According to MJ's records he's never scored against Pools. What a top bloke! ;)

Well done to Goffy for getting him on board and arranging things with our bestest mates at the Mail and Echo clappp

If I remember right he scored the winner against us in a televised match at Bournemouth, after we'd led for most of the game through an Eiffion goal. I think Micky Barron was sent off and so created a siege in which Fletcher came on as a sub and bagged the winner.
He celebrated as if he'd just won the Euromillions.

He's never scored against us.

Remember that game though Barron was sent off for a rugby tackle, the winner went in off Tommy Widdrington's arse. Not sure if Fletcher even played?

He was out down the Marina last night!

it was going well wide until it hit Widdrington and went in. Definite own goal, as seen from the camera replay behind the net. And yes, he never scored against Pools in possibly 20 odd attempts!!!

Still a good player though, just one of those things that he never managed to do!!!!

That winner at Bournemouth came about when Westwood attempted to clear the ball while lying on the ground having slipped. Fletcher and Widdrington were both closing in on the ball. Westy's clearance missed Fletch but hit Widdrington and rebounded into the net.

Ah Right............thanks for that MJ.

I was at the game, watched the highlights on telly after I taped it. AT the time it looked like SF had actually notched it

Fletcher played with Walton last season whilst on loan to Plymouth and in a current article in the Northern echo praises Walton highly saying he is a good acquisition for Pools.

I spoke to him on Friday and he said Walton is good when things are going well but sometimes struggles when they're not. Said he'd be a good signing though.

There's a lot of good things been said about both him and Franks, it seems almost certain that we're going to be stronger in that area next season.

Ah, I didn't know Fletcher had a loan spell at Plymouth. I thought he'd been at Bournemouth for forever. :uhoh:

My old man was talking to him the other day. He said he is good mates with Walton and he is very very hard working.

He said he isn't a superstar and he isn't rubbish, very solid and works so hard. He thinks the injuries have hampered him slightly. He said that he appears to have matured as well.
