... if he's a good scout?

Not being funny here like, as Baker is one of my all-time favourite Pools players, but how do any of us know at this stage how good a scout he is?

I'm happy to see him being given a chance but I'm not gonna mucky my keks over it just cos he was a good player.

In fact, there is actually a certain amount of hypocrisy going on in this thread too. Baker was a really popular player so people are getting all jismic about him getting a job, but if it'd been a not so popular ex-player being employed as a scout would the comments have been more along the lines of, "jobs for the boys"?

Do you need qualifications to be a scout? Like a scouting badge just like them coaches having coaching badges?

Let's hope he succeeds, i'd love us to have younguns coming though like crewe.

It's brilliant to finally replace Tommy Miller Senior - after 3 years! Good luck to Paul, though as the job is basically going to games I don't expect him to have much impact this close season. NC has already said he will be taking a few trialists on the pre-season tour of Holland. At least IOR have recognised they needed to put scouting back on a proper footing again.

Jesus, has it come to the point where we are even criticising our new chief scout before he's even started for Pools? Unbelievable.

You really need to learn how to read.

he apparently used to coach Andy Carroll when he was a kid. Whether that has anything to do with anything or not i don't know.

Self-correction - Saturday's Echo said Bakes was taking over from Peter Eustace as Chief Scout. Strange that he wasn't listed on the HU website. Eustace was a Turner recommendation from their Sheff Wed days. He also worked with Mick Wadsworth and last year Eustace kept tabs on James Poole between the end of his loan spell and signing a contract with Pools. The Echo didn't say whether he'd resigned or NC had decided it was time for a change.
