Hopefully one or two young players will be given a run in the team. From the Tees analysis it sounds like we struggled to create chances today but with Poole and James hopefully back soon and when Brownies fully recovered from his knock it will be onwards and upwards.

Nothing too flash I've been informed.

Baldwin the stand out man, I'd give him and Hartley a good run between now and the end of the season. We've got to look to the future and we have nothing to lose.

Rowbotham started superbly and Hawkins looks like he has a clever footballing brain, however their touches were a bit heavy. If we can get another good central midfield player then Collins doesn't have a future in the starting XI, Baldwin looked very, very good. Bit stronger and he will be a fantastic player.

A masterstroke from Wadsworth signing Baldwin.
When Cooper was here the first time he had young uns playing such as Wilkinson, Istead and Appleby to name a few, however I think these current crop of youngsters we have are much more exciting prospects.
I can see James, Baldwin, Rowbotham etc having long and successful careers in the game!!
Fantastic!!!

i've said all along that baldwin is quality. strong, determined, very good in the air and streetwise for a lad in his first pro season. haven't seen hawkins or rowbotham play yet, but add james into the mix and we look good for the next couple of years

It was a dire game in my opinion and neither side looked like scoring though Sweney did make their keeper make one save. Flinders probably didn't have any shot of any sort to extend him but dealt with all the crosses in much the same way as he has been last few games. Baldwin was man of the match> he showed just what a good player he will be, and as the same scout who discovered Smalling discovered him we might just make some mega money in a few years from him. He was class today, and if sponsors didn't vote for the home team only man of the match he would have walked it. How their number 6 got it must been a joke at one stage Humps give him a 5 yard start and caught him almost getting the ball as well. And that was well into the second half.

Whole team put in a shift today and if we'd had Poole/James maybe their pace might have sneaked it for us. We certainly need someone who can open up defences with telling passes though.

Rowbotham and Hawkins had decent debuts nothing flash but hardly disappointing did what they had to.

As others have said the future looks pretty good with some of the youngsters who have been introduced and if we can keep them together for a few years the future (or the 3 who have started games under Cooper) makes for a good time ahead.

I couldn't fault any of the young uns really.

It reminded me of Pools under Cooper in the first spell - you'd turn up to a game and wonder who some of the players were, and be pleasantly surprised at how well they did for young lads.

It makes me more pissed off with Wilson and Turner in particular for sticking with the old heads, instead of giving youth a chance.

Neale Cooper is a genius at this blooding youth thing. To come out and say that after the game must have given Jack Baldwin a massive boost in confidence, not to say a head the size of a fifty shilling piss pot, but I'm sure he'll keep his feet on the ground and try harder every game he gets. When Hawkins and Rowbotham and the rest hear these things about Luke James and Baldwin from Coops it must give them encouragement. What a difference a few weeks make eh?? clappp

It shows a distinct lack of confidence as a manager when you continuously stick with the old guard. Cooper sticks two fingers up to that and reaps the awards.

He's lightyears ahead of the two above mentioned managers.

Coopers hardly sticking two fingers up to the old guard when he's playing Humphreys every game. Given the injuries we've got and the lack of depth in the squad he didn't have too many options other than throw a few kids in.

He could have played Haslam somewhere in the XI as I think Mr Wadsworth would have done but he stuck to his guns.

Cooper put Haslam in centre mid against Wycombe and we all know how that ended. He'd be daft to try it again.

Cooper could have easily used more experienced players like Brownie, Boyd, Haslam or Luscombe on Saturday and jigged the formation about but instead he threw in two virtual unknowns to start an away game.

Humphreys will have started because he's probably the best fit player we have at holding the ball up.
