My nana used to live there, it is really nice inside. I bet there aren't many retirement villages that have their own gym and pool

LOL, I was in there a week ago! What an eye-opener. It apparently cost £32m and you can see why! The roof of the restaurant automatically opens when it gets warm and the sun shines.

Incredible place. I just wish I was old enough to live there!

What's the minimum age to move in? I'm not too far of bus pass age now.

It's nice now, cos it's new.

I wouldn't be rushing to get in there in 15-20 years time though, it's built with cheap materials and will need a MAJOR overhaul 20 years from now to keep the wind and rain out, trust me.

And as for the foundations...  bbolt

Quite the contrary Mr Elvis, the previous company I worked for did a lot of the work on that site!

That's the 3rd time I've seen Ripper referred to as Ken. Has he changed his real name? sctatchinghead

No rush. It is only approx 70% capacity. Loads of empty places they can't fill. It is, just a glorified 'new' nursing home. (in my opinion of course)

My mother has just moved in last week. Unfortunately I don't think she is going to appreciate it, her memory is going, and is forever repeating the same questions. With hindsight we should have looked to arrange for her to move a couple of years ago. I think living by herself, after my Dads death 6 years ago, has finally taken its toll on her.

It is impressive like.

Dont suppose 15-20 years matters to those in there at the mo. Get the point though,British construcition though built purely with profit in mind, rip off britain and all that, I iamgine must be pretty snazzy at this moment in time, hairdressers, restaurant etc.

Exactly Mr R. For example, most of the windowframes are softwood, cheaper than doing them properly and looks nice when it's new but...

They put that thing up directly opposite my house on just about the last surviving bit of green belt left in the town. rage

The rent they charge is also way above market value once you factor in charges, facilities etc...
