Well to start with i was going there expecting 2 or 3 nil defeat and after the first 10 mins i was expecting that even more. Thought we came into the game as it went on and they were looking very nervy at the back as we got in behind them a few times, but as usual there was no cutting edge. I would loved to have seen James playing against there back 4, he would have ran them ragged. We deserved at least a point in the end and monkeys effort would have sent me mental as we piled on the pressure, never mind though we gave a good account of ourselves, some ratings.................

Flinders 8, made some great saves early on and was dominant throughout, shame that goal managed to worm its way in
Austin 6, was getting dragged all over the place first 10/20 mins but gradually got better
Collins 7, he dominated the air and coped very well with the countrys top scorer
Hartley 7, as above
Horwood 7, i thought that was one his best games for pools, he linked up really well with monkey
Murray 7, broke things up and kept it simple but started to look understandably tired
Sweeney 8, ran his balls off and caused some problems
Baldwin 7, some may not think so but i thought he was very effective, very strong and mobile, looks a cracking player to me!
Monkey 8, MOM for me, thought he ran them ragged at times and could have scored a screamer
Poole 6, did quite well and they didnt like his pace
Humps 7, im giving him a 7 for the effort he put in,ten times better than saturdays horror show, he chased down and linked up very well, no goal threat though

Brown 7, did well when he came on, seemed to enjoy the space he had on a wide pitch, getting to his best i hope
Nish 5, caught offside twice and maybe should have scored
Boyd 6, actually thought he did ok when he came on, found a bit space and almost scored

All in all a shame we lost but plenty positives to take from it, heard a few of their fans after game talking about how they didnt really deserve that and we were winning all the 2nd balls etc.

Got to agree there except your rating for Nish and Boyd, id say Nish - 6 and Boyd - 5, got to say Nish looked like he wanted to score last night and looked a danger when he came on link up well with boyd as well

Yup, can't argue with any of that. How different to this "review" of last night's game, posted on Facebook.

Daniel Hackworth "pools were shit, they
were shit, pools happys to lose 1-0, cooper can fuck off"

Magic.

Well according to this place last night, Humphreys had picked the team so its a bit harsh telling Cooper to foook off.

Can someone explain to me again as to why are fans arent generally shit?

Close call, lots of good performances, including Monkey and Baldwin. Flinders gets it for me.

Nish looked up for it last night to me. Did well coming on, at least he posed a threat to the oppositions goal.

I would liked to have seen him start last night. Think he could work well with Poole

Agree with the ratings but thought Baldwin was excellent at times last night. Keep him in the middle!

Nish was brilliant when he came on also, nearly scored and put a peach of a cross into the path of Sweeney who would have been through on goal had he been able to control the ball.

Horwood's defending nearly cost us a couple of times. He could learn a thing or two from Austin by making sure he takes the ball and the man with every tackle.

Because we're safe and probably out of the play-off picture I'd keep playing Baldwin. He looks very promising but his touch is a bit heavy. I hope that improves with more games, but two or three times he would get into a great position for an interception before a heavy touch lost him the ball.

Horwood's defending was very shaky although his crosses into the box were fairly good; he attacked their full-back with good success as well. Austin played well in both halves of the pitch.

Nish was every bit as good as Boyd, looked like he cared a bit more as well.

My man of the match was Flinders. I thought he was magnificent. Great positioning for that header inside ten minutes. A couple of superb diving saves, the one he caught from Rhodes just after their second sticks out, and he got everything in the air.
