My post from Friday...

"Ah yes, tonked...that rings a bell! I'm sure we were told that by Lincoln, Swindon, Stockport, Notts and MK Dongs before we beat them in their back yards. This will be no easy game for you. In fact, we may beat you.

If we lose I will be on here to offer my congratulations the following morning. If we win I predict a shower of posts claiming we were the worst team you've played all season. Isn't life wonderful ;)"

Really enjoyed the day today despite the 520 mile round trip! Think we made a good game of it don't you? Well done on the victory and best of luck in the promotion charge. Below is my view as posted on our board.

"Worth the trip......well, £18 to get in might be stretching it a bit! Decent turn out of Bulls. Looked to be the best part of 200. The Jacksons Wharf turned out to be an eating house with no Sky so some stayed and ate, others went in hunt of a TV. First goal conceded looked like bad marking at the back post but worryingly we almost did it again shortly afterwards. DT took his extremely well, nipped round the full back and lobbed the advancing keeper. Can't really comment on their second as it was at the other end, but it looked as if there was a fair bit "going on" in the box. Our second equaliser was well deserved, if only because we should have been awarded a penalty anyway for the umpteenth shove in Connell's back. Ref gave us very little all game but to be fair was fairly crap giving wrong decisions for both sides. No qualms about their winner, well struck from about 22/23 yards. Deffo penalty in the dying seconds and the Danny Thomas booking was very unjust. He was giving their fullback a good roasting and was going passed him again when the fullback put his arm across his chest and grabbed his shirt. DT may have gone down a bit easily and the ref could not have had a clear view so waving away the claim for a foul was maybe understandable. But, if he didn't have a view to see the foul, neither could he have judged it a dive. If the incedent was caught on video there should be a clear case for getting the card scrubbed off. I would say that Hartlepool just shaded it. In fact, one of their fans after the game reckoned they'd "got out of jail" today and was very praising in his comments about our style and the fact that we didn't go there and stick nine men behind the ball. Good game, good day out, bloodly hell it's a long way up there.

Oh yes, and a cracking "proper" stadium, stewards a bit pedantic but fairly well humoured. Nice to see them chuck one of their fans out when he "strayed" onto the pitch and finally.....hotdogs the size of crowbars for £2.50!!"

i did say you would get tonked and your assesment of the game looked fair
not sure on your goals because i missed them both the first as i was telling my mate about how we tend to relax at half time and the second was off side
but hey ho a win is a win and not complaining
can see how you have had some good results lately but we are the form team and
WE NEVER SAY DIE

ggod luck for the rest of the campaign

"second was off side "

No idea, not easy to tell from behind the goal but one thing is certain...there was a clear push on Connell when he went for the initial header before it was put in by Guinan so maybe the end result was fair. You did give us a good battering at times but equally, I though we also contributed with some decent football and the fact that we came to give you a game. A bit of hoofball from both sides but also a lot of good play along the ground. Good advert for League 2 I thought?

to be honest 1st half i thought we were slow but you offered naught, except for the left back.

2nd when we upped it we were a different class but defence shaky today unusually so.

missed your first goal as finishing off a pint and a smoke and didnt really see your second either as i was laughing at the st johns trying to run to the aid of the lad who got in the way of our 2nd.

still, you're doing ok for 1st season back and there was 171 (or 173) visiting fans and i've done that run before and it's a killer expecially in the back of a tranny (van that is-not the back end of a lady boy!) at 6 in the morning and you never found out you were going until 2.

best of british - seeing as you welsh  and the blue socks really didnt match with the rest of the strip.

The blue socks normally match the blue "away" shorts.....had to change today to avoid a "shorts" clash.

Blue socks, blue shorts and yellow/green shirts....very "Brazil" don't you think ;)

Oh yes, and this particular "welsh"man was sad not to get some haggis today

Would think it's unlikely we will be seeing you lot next season but if it does happen I suspect we'll be happy to share the points again;)

I can't believe you seriously wanted two penaltys from that match, were you pissed?

i was going to say that. it really was a blatant foul which was turned down, and the subsequent goal looked offside from where I was.

not to mention darren williams still being in the dressing room for their first goal. He did well for the rest of the half, like.

Mind you they had other chances and caused us more problems than a lot of others. looked like they were going to score a certain equaliser late on but somehow it got knocked over the bar.

I thought we were slightly lacking in midfield, with Liddle and Sweeney not imposing on the game as much as they have recently.

We definately had an off day (particularly defensively), and to be fair to Hereford they were very good. Their keeper had a blinder & kept them in it in the 1st half. Ref was poor, but all in all a very good & entertaining game (especially if there were any neutrals there) I felt we were fortunate to get the 3 points, Hereford deserved something from the game, all credit to out lads though for responding both times they equalised
