Terrible scenes there about 7:15 this morning, I reckon he's dead, people looked badly shaken at what they'd seen..

cyclist killed on the parkway near Wilton back end of last year. Very sad.

Personally I never, ever use dual carriageways to cycle anywhere. You only have to get clipped and you're a gonner. I take a longer route if needs be, but a cycle-friendly route.

I see cyclists on the A174 every time I go to work and I cringe when they approach the Greystones roundabout. Cars and lorries are still flying down on that approach, I'm amazed more don't get wiped out.

They could easily make their way through Acklam/Normanby/South Bank/Grangetown/Eston/Lackenby and there's an underpass under that roundabout onto a cycle route. There's plenty cycle routes from Middlesbrough area along the trunk road as well, I don't understand why people on bikes even go on the Parkway.

I travel on the a19 every day and never see cyclists. It would take a very brave person to attempt it.

Has anybody heard what actually happened this morning??

Although very sad that somebody has lost their life... I cant believe they would take the risk cycling on the A19 in the first place.

I left our house about five to seven and got to work about five to eleven.

Shame if somebody has been killed and thoughts with the family and friends, but why oh why would anybody in their right mind ride a bike down the A19?

Looking on the bright side at least I was held up on the way to work and not on the way home.

I got stuck on the A19 at elwick about 7.30 on my way to Boro and after crawling along to the first Hpool/Billingham turn off i turned off there and the que was just as bad there.

To the right of that slip road there is another road, (not sure if it is the old A19) so i just shot across to that and got straight down to the roundabout

Does anyone know of that road and can you use it ? Never seen any signs saying i couldnt, just no one else used it
