Appears to have found his level at Consett... 9 goals in his last 2 games. 5 against Jarrow Roofing and 4 against Guisborough on Saturday

Surely If he's scoring that many, then he's too good for that level?

he seemed to be a very instinctive finisher. His big problem came when he had time to think about what to do on the ball, or when to time his run. He didn't link up with team mates very well in open play and this was his biggest problem. He had the ability in his feet - but crucially he never had it in his brain, which counts for at least half of a pro player's usefulness

His goal at oldham was pretty decent if i remember rightly.

I thought he had potential, should have been given more of a run in the team rather than the odd game hear n there.

Headless Chicken............just ran around with NO contribution to the game.

Agree he's probably at the right level now and good luck to the lad.

He had great pace and I beleive should have been given more of a chance. He played v tranmere last season in the Holden/rowbotham game and caused there defence problems all game. If his goal v b rovers had of stood and won us the title his career could have been so different. He seemed to be a confidence player but was rarely used whilst here so it was very low. His record in northern league is out standing so hes Definately not found his level. He is way too good for that level of football

Probably because most games he played was as a brief sub for about 10 minutes and had to try n make an impact in the short time he was on.

Come on, he wasnt good enough and didnt deserve a longer stint in the team etc. Even Gateshead didnt want him.

He'd have been brilliant if offside was banned!

Stick a chance on a plate for him and nine times of ten he hits the target, but that was the player that signed for the club he got no better in his few years as a professional footballer. Too easily knocked off the ball as well. As has already been mentioned he was rubbish at Gateshead as well.

Did you ever watch him play for Gateshead to back up that statement??

I read a forum while he was there and the supporters didn't rate him, and he lost his place in the starting eleven. 2 goals in 16 appearances sort of backs that up.

So I can't really back up that he was rubbish, but he certainly didn't enjoy a successful loan spell.

Loads of strikers have hard times settling in at new clubs and struggle to find the net, Nish an example of the current squad. I thought he did ok for us and deserved another chance.

Also if you just listen to forums , judging by this one, everybody Is rubbish

He should never have got another year, a waste of a wage last season. Another Turner masterstroke.

Did anyone ever find out what his 'plan' was for him?

He was scoring similarly ridiculous amounts of goals in the Northern League before we picked him up.
I think we missed the boat by a few years trying to get him to play at this level.

We probably picked him up at the wrong time, both for the player and the club.

He needed to be well managed at Conference and League 2 level to get the best from him, perhaps even stepping up to that level slowly.

In most of his time with us we were a L1 side competing with teams that had either good or experienced players in their sides, meaning bringing a lad like him who needed a lot of time to come good in would have been a waste of time for the club and him.

Would be interesting to have seen if Cooper could have done anything with him given his desire for hard work and pace though.

concurr Madjohn, Mckay was never gonna make it as a pro with Pools, 24 year old as a first year pro- read his name weekly in the Echo-shed load for Consett- I reckon Conference North is is level-obviously playing too low where he is. Nice to see the lad doing well-Darlo might well have a look LOL!

Good work ethic, good attitude. He did his best to make it as a pro, but probably arrived at the club a little too late to do so. He has a pro striker's instinct, but an amateur's footballing brain.

Agree with that but also think he could have been given a little more of a chance - as has kind of been said if he could time his runs he would have been a more than useful player. In general I don't think he was the sharpest tool in the box but his general attitude and interviews certainly gave the impression that he wanted it.

As for his wage I would reckon £500 a week maximum - probably more like £400.....
