They're playing guessing games over on the other side as to who is heading up this consortium to buy the shell. Many names have been mentioned but [you heard it here first and I'm not guessing] remember Alan Noble - ex chairman?. Former majority shareholder of Northgate plc and recently retired. He's made nigh on £30m since he was last chairman and these days he's a touch bored.

He won't sink all his dosh into it but he would steady the ship. Watch this space.

one thing about having a professional club in an area where there are so few of them, is it increases the likelihood of someone stepping forward to save it.
In an area such as Greater Manchester, there are so many lower league/ small clubs that it seems inevitable they won't all survive in the future. Stockport would give anything right now for some investment

It appears so. If true then there is no way back. the consortium have apparently said that if the club is put into admin then they will withdraw their interest. Anyway itll give me a good excuse to find something more productive to do with my money and saturdays!

The Conference are pretty rough on teams in admin as well, the sanctions are more than just ten points normally.

Well yes, the administrators will drag every penny out of the club while arsing about over the small print, as they always do, inflate their fees in the meantime, nick owt that's worth anything and probably bump the cost by half a mil by doing so.

Accountants are leeches. I know, I was one.

It will be rubbish if they genuinely do go the journey.

Regardless of derby day feelings the truth is that 1,500 people in Darlington still clearly care about the club and a community is going to have a key part of local sporting history ripped away from it.

No doubt several of the most die hard fans will attempt to start the club again from scratch. Good luck to them if they do and there are several examples of clubs who have done this retaining a lot of their original support and making their way back up the leagues.

I've took mick, even reacted that for some of their fans that if went bust I'd laugh, but that was a spur of the moment reaction. They have fans just as die hard as we do, and they deserve a football team. Rivalry aside I hope they pull through, but another administration well kill them off. Whether they can re-form in some way is another question, if they do go under I wish them luck in doing so.

You can't just switch it off after years and years Mr Monkeybutt. If Pools went under I could watch Darlo, even wish them well in many circumstances but in terms of feeling any loyalty or deep seated affection never. Ever. No way no how. It's like suggesting that after my Gran died I could have just decided to transfer my feelings to a random old lady at the bus stop.

What I meant was, not transferring allegiance, but if your teams gone, you wouldn`t stop watching football and want a certain team to win sctatchinghead

Has there ever been a club thats gone under and not reformed. Halifax, Scarboro, Boston, Chester etc.. all have teams in some league below the conference.
They just need a ground to play at, give it 4 or 5 years and could be knocking at the door of the conference.

"Chairman Raj Singh has today returned from abroad and is currently assessing the club's position with his advisors.

A further announcement will be made next week.

In the meantime, the match against Gateshead on Sunday (New Year's Day) will go ahead as planned.

From official site...not sure when this was posted mind.....

I would never want to see any club go out of business, it still has fans and ofcourse like when any other business goes under people lose jobs!

Apparently the players are going to stay for the time being so we have a team to field on sunday. What happens to the gate receipts remains to be seen!

Our problem is where to play. Bishops ground seems to be the only suitable venue locally thats capable of hosting football at a half decent level, other than the Vic of course!

It's all about the money, we are soooooooooooooooooooooo lucky. Where would we be if IOR hadn't come along. Most of my life supporting Pools has been under the treat of the club going out of business so I'm not going to laugh at their plight, it's not funny as they've been a big part of our footballing lives too.

for me as a Pools fan, games against Darlo were the highlight of the season. We could get into the premier league in 3 seasons and regularly play Newcastle Sunderland and Boro -
but if we drew Darlo out of the hat in the Cup - that is THE game for me. No ifs, no buts. Best part of a century of intense rivalry doesn't just die simply because one team is doing better than the other for a few years.
I watched the highlights against Gateshead and in all truth, neither set of fans will say they have an intense rivalry with the others. It's just not there between those clubs.
That's the biggest compliment any Poolie can pay them, and I speak as a hardcore undiluted died in the wool Poolie. I also will never, ever have an allegiance to another club like I have had in my lifetime with Pools

We need them, they need us, as rivals - there's people on here who don't think so but they don't know what they are on about

Its amazing how some idiots still slag off IOR

Look at the array of shysters Darlo have had
Reynolds
Houghton
Singh

All of them lauded to the rooftops and treated as heroes to begin with.
Would like to believe Pools fans would not be so naive and thick......but I suspect we would be!
