Reynolds built it too big, and now it's a problem for them that isn't going to go away. Like us, the core support is about 3000 max, above that you're talking fair weathers and floating voters that might turn up if things are going well. For Pools it's maybe slightly higher now as the sustained success has helped convert a few more to hardcore fans. The difference is that with 3K the Vic is a lot more sustainable than Reynolds Folly.

The other thing that sticks out is that they're struggling to attract the floating voters. They're on a really good run, in with a shout of a playoff place, there should be more of them - so why aren't they there? Well, partly it's the wide open spaces IMO - the atmosphere is part of the entertainment and whether a good one is generated or not the floaters won't believe it if they see pictures like the one above.

Then there's the location. Like a lot of out of town stadia, it isn't exactly a great place to get to with lots of facilities all around - mostly it's within the stadium itself. So meeting up for a pint before the game involves being in the ground itself....

Add everything up and you end up with a package that needs a big boost (ie Local Derby) before people start crawling out of the woodwork.

OK so they have the ability to raise money through other means using the facilities (concerts, the infamous carvery etc) but the thing is with the maintenance and upkeep of a structure like that I suspect they need it just to keep the infrastructure running, never mind the team....

Looks a nice ground, But Reynolds did the wrong thing, He should have built up a successful team to League 1 / Championship level, Assessed the fan base then built a ground to suit it, Instead he just built the ground

Ruined it really, He was wanting a Casino and others for extra revenue but the council refused it and then he went bust, Not a good scenario really

Unfortunatley though with us being local rivals, Why should we feel sorry for them
