Kemps bakery in Brenda Road was sublime....sadly it closed in the early 90's I believe... gorgeous mince pies and bread buns you could actually eat by themselves....unlike the homogonised crap that we get nowadays..

I hear the siren of your transport back to the 'Dale Winton home for distressed journo's' in the distance as I'm typing this...

Mary Lamberts is still ace in my opinion. Small brown stotties, corned beef slices, delicious. Our lass reckons the cakes are superb too, but I never have them. I'm too busy eating a corned beef slice in a stottie.

Last time I was up I picked up my order of 5 dozen stotties and 8 corned beef slices from the one on the Fens, and I noticed Greggs have opened a shop there now. I would be seriously gutted if it forced Lamberts out of business.

Swines!

Greggs are going down in my estimation. I used to

Can you believe that my local Greggs doesn't sell corned beef pasties any more? What is the world coming to?

Second in deliciousness to the steak bake, but better value for money, the CB pastie is surely the standard bearer for Greggs products?

Me and all. The best pastie experience I've had recently was in Shrewsbury. Steak and onion, in a delicious thick gravy. It was 99p mind, but worth every penny.
