Heard on The Championship (ITV) that rumours are abound that MK Dons and Luton are planning to merge in the summer, how would that happen like? Luton is near Milton Keynes but still...

Edit:Geography.

Yes, I think that was his original idea then Wimbledon started having problems and he pounced.

They were going to move to MK but I'm not entirely sure if it was Winklemann's doing.

Two fucking horrible clubs who deserve each other.

At least it'll mean either Allen or Newell will be jobless soonish....!

Do you reckon Mr Winkleman has realised that his 25,000 seater stadium is slightly ambitious for the football loving people of Milton Keynes?

Imagine what Luton fans make of this? I'd imagine the MK 'fans' aren't arsed.

Imagine a Newell/Allen managerial double act  You'd need a 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th official

It also went on to say that Newell is planning his escape and planning managing Swansea.

I think you're right about Winkleman - it was before his time.

Whatever happened to your quiz question about previous Poolies who have scored both for and against Pools in a season.

I have a feeling one of the answers was involved in yesterdays fixture a few years back....

They wouldn't be arsed at all, they weren't arsed about dropping Liverpool/Man U/Chelsea as their teams or the damage it did to Wimbledon to start supporting that crock of shite so I can't imagine they'd be bothered about merging with Luton and wrecking another club.

I think their ground is bigger than 25k (possibly 30) and will never be a success but good luck to the greasy long haired silly boy.

A few years ago when Robert Maxwell was in charge of Oxford, there was talk of them merging with Reading. Oxford were in the old First division and Reading in the Fourth. What a contrast in fortunes now!!!

What a criminal he was. Got all he deserved for robbing his employees rage

I suspect that these rumours will be coming from the MK end of things, and the thing that is a big carrot for Luton is the ground. They've been trying to sort out a new stadium for years, but remain stuck at Kenilworth Road (appropriate name, it went to the dogs years ago) as funding/planning permission etc have never got sorted. Then Winkie has a much-vaunted stadium that's supposed to be capable of hosting European Football and a team that's more likely to be playing in the Johnstone Paint Pot Trophy.

I doubt Luton fans will go for it at all, and even if they were interested relative league positions would probably kill it. After the Thames Valley Royals thing, the rules were set so that if two or more teams merged, they'd take the place of the lowest. MK will be in Div2 at best next season, while Luton could well stay in Div1. So, an unpopular merger and dropping a division, or staying where you are? Hmmmm... [strokes beard]

Well spotted. The very point I was about to make.

There'd be absolutely nothing in this deal for Luton. Zilch.
If they really wanted to use MkDonkeys' stadium they'd almost certainly be able to do so via a ground share, which winky would be a fool not to welcome with open arms.

the worst one had to be, the Dog & Duck wanting to merge with the King's Head in the Devon & Cornwall Pub League Division 8 . There was serious crowd trouble over that.
