Over the bar is pretty shit for a striker.....! It did sound like he had an improved game though. Maybe Sweens could of been patched up and sent back on in the last minute or Scotty should of taken one.....

banghead

I had a feeling we'd lose on penalties - I don't know why.

Football's back.

Plenty of positives, never gave up, plenty of half chances, boydy looked very sharp. Luscombes pass for the goal was amazing.

we lost on penalties to a team who couldnt beat us when we went down to 10 men in normal time. played the full extra time a man down and if horwoods piledriver had gone in we would be through.
nish's penalty was pretty poor though

Not strictly relevant, but fairplay to Roy O'Donovan, taking advantage of the poor situation at Coventry and grabbed a goal tonight.

Still, I think we'll turn over Walsall on Saturday, wasn't at the game but can anyone shed any light on Sweeney's injury? Serious or just a knock?

Proud to be a poolie, excellent for performence by all. Boydy had his best game for a number of years, luscombe was sublime, nish still looks a yard off the pace (terrible pen didnt look confident) sweeney was holding his groin and it didnt look too good. Hartley was made mom by fetish, i thought boydy nicked it. Sheff utd were average, a lot better teams will murder them.

played some good stuff, weak link at present is Nobby, sluggish still and no penetration, good work rate across the board and when Poole and Luscombe came on we looked more like a balanced team.

Luscombes left foot is a wand when he is passing, needs practice shooting though!
The pass to Sweens for the goal was sublime clappp

don't agree with the opinion that Sheff U were average, I thought they played some good one touch stuff and moved it very quickly. Pools matched them all the way and we created good chances of our own. If both sides had their shooting boots on it would have ended 3 or 4 all, some glaring misses by both teams in good positions.
Flinders had a very good game, the howler in the first half apart (when he almost dived on the ball outside the box)!

It was my first match this season and the first time seeing new boys. Nish was poor, Solano was poor, but was impressed with Poole and Luscombe.
