This part of the Russian quote;

In the UK, the police need a consolidated political will despite its strength. The authorities should say that 'if you want to live in England, you should work and become Englishmen or go away'... Years will pass before the UK authorities venture to take tough measures in the immigration policy.

See the problem is, Mr Compo, is that there's only one policy and if you've been legitimately married to a nonEU citizen for five years it makes absolutely bugger all difference.

I'm effectively barred from living in my own country.

I wish somebody could explain this shit to me.

How come certain second and third generation immigrants can go back to their parents / grandparents country of birth (e.g. India, Pakistan etc.) for an arranged marriage and then bring their spouse back to the UK but a (how do I put this in a pc way?) UK citizen who was born and bred here and whose parents, grandparents, greatgrandparents etc etc are all born in the UK cannot marry a non EU partner and get automatic right of residence (or in some cases any residency whatsoever) for their spouse?

What is the loophole and why?
