Hi all

First post here on the bunker I attended the Barnsley game the other night and although losing the game thought there were a lot of positives to be drawn from it, Nathan Luscombe and James Poole were both lively and very impressive when they came on second half and in patches although clearly lacking in match fitness thought Solano showed some clever touches and Nish again looks like he will be dangerous given the right service. I will be going into the Niramax Terrace this season with my 6 year old son and will probably have to get in early to get near the front so he can see!! I don't think it is getting carried away to suggest the play offs as a realistic aim this term.

If we get in the top ten this season it will have been a sucessful season for me. I think Luscombe and Poole are going to be major players for us this season. It's going to be a different sort of season for MW. he's cleared the decks, brought in his own type of player and the ground is full. I would think Ior want a bit of a return on this season, not just progression. Pressures on a bit, and that's a good thing, because we've been treading water for three seasons. To keep this floating support we've got to show our front teeth this season. I cant wait.

Just my opinion as well, but i have this feeling our first choice midfield will end up Sweeney and Liddle through the middle with Luscombe and Poole on either flank. Controversial, but i can honestly see that happening with Solano and Monkhouse being under pressure for their places. Poole seems to be uprooting trees pre season from reports amd Wadsworth is raving about Luscombe. Its going to be an interesting season.

I agree it is going to be great to see ground packed out each home game and many more options available to MW this year for me I would start Poole & Nish up front as Boydy still off the pace for me Solano Liddle Sweeney looks a strong midfield with Murray competing for a place as well and maybe Luscombe Monkhouse out wide can't wait for the first game atmosphere will be amazing we could surprise many and be dark horses why not??

I was telling the lads at work that very thing. I've seen Luscombe twice now and he's shown glimpses that he's prepared to run at the defences more than Andy Monkhouse and this might just make him more competitive for his place. I hope this proves right because Monkhouse has gone missing on more than one occasion last season. He improved only after Wadsworth dropped him to the bench.

It's far more exciting this time because of all the options we have on the bench. We should be a lot stronger if we get any injuries this season. Can't wait for the season to start.

Poole, Luscombe and Brown (if he can stay fit) will be the ones grabbing the headlines.
Slightly worried about our defence but I think the quality we have in attacking players should see us comforably in the top half of the table.

I think the defence will be ok as long as Murray plays or at least starts games. I know we have a lot of attacking options which is good but Murray brings compoure and bite to the team and I would hope that he will start most games.

murreys your traditional water carrier, he does the simple stuff like breaking up attacks, he's a very "busy" player, always getting at the opposition players and stopping them playing, winning the ball, simply and easily laying it off to our more attacking players who can do the damage.

Every team needs one, he's the makalele of league one.

I cant see where Murray is going to play? If we flood the midfield away from home and play 5, then i agree. But in a 4 4 2, then its Sweeney and Liddle in the middle every time for me. I like Murray, but he's going to find it difficult to command a place this season i feel.

Sweens and Lidddle are both work horse types, we need a brain in there to pass and go, Luscombe will be playing there soon, you heard it here first!

And before windbag Creosote starts, I was the first to spot the rotunds one potential

For the first time in ages, there's genuine quality and competition for places. In a 4-5-1 Murray would walk in but in a 4-4-2 it's between him and Lids. Strikers, I'd go for Boyd and Nish. A battering ram and a silky, cheeky bugger on his day. With Caluum Hassan baying from the bench. I expect big things from him this season. He's built like a tank and has come through the ressies in just one season.

It's going to be a very interesting season.

Oh dear oh dear.

I notice how you kept it very quiet until the Fan club was started, and now you want all the glory.

You are like that bloke that sued the Harry Potter writer, 10 years after it became very popular.

Look back at the facts, after the Leeds reserve game last season when he was on trial, I was waxing lyrical about his potential and that is a FACT!

although ive said earlier, i think he'll go with Liddle, personally i prefer Murray in the middle to allow Sweeney to bomb on. I just think Murray is a more intelligent, tactically aware footballer in the Boland mould. I really like Murray, he a good footballer and he doesnt mind pointing the finger. I think Liddle sometimes goes to sleep in the middle. But fook me, its going to be a tough choice that one. it really is.

Well like I say Mr Mullet, it depends on formation. It also depends on home and away but it's great to have the problem innit??
