Now that we are going to have home gates of 5,750+ I think it is time we considered getting rid of the music at Pools. When the players come out and especially when we score I want to hear the crowd, not music. Now that we are going to have a good atmosphere again lets return to letting the crowd make the noise - there isn't a better sound on Earth anyway!

What if some people like the music?

There will be some who do like the music, but I suppose I am more of a traditionalist. We could always put a poll on to gauge peoples opinions?

I like the music as well, I personally think Phil had hit on a pretty good 5 minutes or so of building up right before the players came out last season, you need a bit of music to bring some tension and get the crowd warmed up.

Just about every other form of entertainment has intro music.

If it's not just a standard like Tom bloody Hark, but a personalised track for every scorer it also helps when everyone is asking 'who got that,' in a crowded goalmouth and you're up the far end so to speak.

Pools fans aren't notoriously noisy at home either, away yes, home no in my memory.

Pools fans weren't always quiet though. It could be argued that the reason there isn't as much noise generated in recent years is that the music drowns it out and the crowd are less inclined to make a noise as a result.

But maybe I should just stop being an old fart and accept that it is now a part of the modern game....

I think there's a time and a place, John used to play the same music week in week out very loudly, Phil's clearly got a broader musical knowledge and seems to be able to keep the volume at a decent level.

People want to have a chat in the lead up to the start of the game, the music should just be at a sensible level, then can be cranked up a little to try and get the tension mounting in the 5 minutes or so before the teams actually come out.

I'm only on about the music that is played when the players come out and when we score a goal.
The music that is played as a lead up to the game has always been there and Phil does a good job with that as you rightly point out.

Just for once can people actually think about all fans before telling the club what they should do.

There are loads of kids who love the music, kids of all ages.

There are many older folk that also enjoy the music.

Leave well alone, as the balance is just about right.

Ps

I hate Mr Blue sky but it works for most people.

Ditto re Mr Blue Sky. Other than that I'm fine with music for pretty much the reasons Mr C has stated.

I surely can't be the only one who loved singing along to Tom Hark whenever we scored? It's hardly original but I did enjoy it

John Orley was to blame for me hating Tom Hark.

He played it after we lost the title to Walsall. I couldnt believe he did it.

He played it after full time on numerous occasions after a defeat. Phil Dunn isnt daft, he wouldnt play music to try and cheer us up, as he will be as gutted as us if we lose.

So Tom Hark needs to be left on the shelf.

Concurring.

And I would love to hear it 100+ times at The Vic in the coming season and would never get sick of it if it was played that many times.

I liked Tom Hark, and couldn't really put my finger on what put me off it, but you've got it spot on there. It was the playing it after a defeat!! If you're going to do that, you might as well play it when the opposition score as well banghead

The music at Pools is spot on now, and I have no idea how Phil is going to keep us all happy with all the suggestions he will be getting.

But for me, I like the 'build up to kick off' music and goal music, as long as its something we can all identify as being OUR piece of music, and we dont play it at inappropriate times
