....for signings a manager has brought to the club?

Gibb apart (who does occasionally have his uses), the transformation in midfield is quite unbelievable. Exactly twelve months ago away at Tranmere we had a midfield consisting of Llewelyn, Bullock, Turnbull and Matty Robson. Liddle is probably the tidiest footballer I have seen play for Pools, Boland plays like he is two players and Monkhouse has been a revelation on the left and without his goals we wouldn't consider ourselves serious contenders for champions. Upfront, Duffy's goals transformed our season and now he has been replaced by an equally natural goalscorer.

I can't think of a better manager for players he has signed. Cooper bought shite like Carson, Scott Walker, Daly, that lad from Man Yoo who played on right (Byrne?) and Turner bought a few dodgy ones in Danny Hughes, Sperrevik, Sam Shilton etc.

He's certainly been the best in my lifetime and I don't think he has been given anymore or any less resources than any other of the last few since IOR took over

To be fair to that team that day, they got a good draw against a decent side. Unsurprisingly, given that the defence was Dimi, Williams, Humphreys, Nelson and Clark, we didn't concede.

True we did, but it's still a fecking awful midfield!

I noticed that Colin Cooper was warbling on like someone who clearly hasn't seen us play...

I agree that the quality of the signings has been spot on almost without exception, but I wonder if it's all down to Wilson or whether Butterworth is playing a big part?

I think Cooper was gutted to see him go!

Loads of Boro fans were not best pleased he was left out, I watched Borer on Sky on Tuesday night and thought to myself Liddle would be immense in that midfield

But still, There loss is our gain :D

Wonder if they have any more gems they want rid of

We have been successful over recent years because we had a great team spirit and togetherness. It was a severe lack of same spirit that caused us to go down and now its reemergence will take us up again.

There was a lot wrong at the club during the Cooper and Scott era mainly in the dressing room, that has been put right. It is to Wilson's credit that he fixed it quickly and once fixed bolstered the side with some quality signings. I don't believe the signings would have worked if he had not corrected the malaise first and foremost.

Turner:
Strodder: Short-term: good, Long term: ok/Left after 2 years.
Jones: Short-term: good, Long term: Left.
Hughes: Short-term: bad, Long term: Left.
Freestone: V.Short-term: good, Long term: Left.
Westwood: Short term:good, Long term:good

Cooper:
Nelson: Long term:good
Strachan: Short term:good, mid-term:ok.
Jordan: Short term: Not good, Long-term:bad/left.
Robinson:Short term:good, Long term:Bad/left.
Gabbiadini : Short term:good, Long term injured/left.

Scott:
Butler: Short-term: good, Long term: Left.
Llewellyn: Short-term: bad, Long term: Left.
Bullock: Short-term: bad, Long term: To be proven.
D. Williams: Short-term: bad, Long term: Good/To be proven.
Proctor: Short-term: bad, Long term: To be proven.

Wilson:
Liddle: Short-term: good
Boland: Short-term: good
Gibb: Short term:Ineffective.
Barker: Very short term:good
Monkhouse :Short-term: good

Anyhow, what I'm trying to say it that most of Turners didn't last long, although the likes of Strodder were good in the short term and boy did he need short term signings to save us. Cooper were good for the short term with the exception of Jordon but in the long term either didn't peform and left, similar to Turner. Scott's were mostly shite and the ones that are still here have all peformed a bit better without him in charge but are still unproven. Wilson's have all been good but we can't see how long they will stay at the club but irregardless of that most of a managers first five signings haven't lasted long.

Turner for me was the best in recent times (maybe ever) because he completely changed the direction and the identity of the club. The success we've had in the last 6/7 seasons (bar last year) wouldn't have happened but for him.
I always thought it was Newell who signed Nelson?

IOR changed the club.....no IOR, no managers to change the club.

IOR pick the manager.... they pick exceedingly good managers ( excluding the 'manager' who never was) whereas the teams you list have picked badly. But we both undersatnd where we're coming from

And to think a little over three months ago some people were calling for Wilson to be sacked stupid while some of us were saying he's a good manager, he needs time to sort out the mess left by Scotty. To have sorted it out after 17 games is nothing short of phenominal. I also think Butterworth is an excellent coach and assistant. Well done Danny and Butters! clappp clappp clappp clappp clappp

Over the longer period Turner has to still be considered our best Manager. If Cooper had stayed, I think he would have gone on to surpass him, but he didn't for whatever reason. Wilson has the potential, and has began to show it. But until we have gone up, in any way, and are challenging at the top end of league 1, he can't be considered our best manager.

So tell me this O big boned one, why didn't Uncle Ken give you the managers job if you are the 'puppeteer ' working Danny Boy ...... you must be the 'brains' behind the whole thing ... therefore you should get the credit.
I think we should have an award called a 'DIBBLE'...a little Oscar like gold statue of your good self comes to mind and could be awarded weekly

Ian, the reason I haven't been to many matches this season is domestic. At the moment I have to have the kids on a Saturday night, collecting them at about 5pm. Now if I lived in Throston or West Park etc that would not be a problem. As it is I live in Nottingham so unless I invest in a stealth bomber I'm hardly likely to get there in time. The alternative is of course to blank them in favour of a game of football.

I'm not getting back into that old argument about the dressing room except to say that it existed and it existed before Scott was in charge. Anyone who knows the truth knows that Cooper was ousted by player power - shall we go all the way back to 'this bus drives itself' ?

Anyway, thankfully those days are gone and its Wilson / Butterworth who have corrected it. The result of their efforts is plain to see.

Oh stop it you tart. Without rumours, exagerations, and simple lies the bunker would never have become the main message board in the world.

I hope you are not inferring that my claims to have had most of the women in the world except Jade Goodie, and Walsallmom, who I can't forgive for the American spelling of 'Mum', are rumours lies or exaggerations??

'Cos if you are, you will be hearing from my barrister, who is Nigerian and tells me that some long lost and never before heard of relative, having been killed in a road accident on the Kinshasa bypass, has left me several millions of dollars, which we are going to share when I send him my bank details. I know 'cos he sends me regular e-mails.

If you claimed that RH evecuated his bowels regularly a certain someone would deny it.

Ritchie Humphreys is playing very well at the moment and back to his best. This was not the case pre Port Vale when he was going through the motions and was mediocre at best.
