Mrs Bandage rings me today at half past four, to tell me the cars been wheel clamped, and these two heroes are demanding £117 to remove it.....the space she was parked in was pemit only, BUT ALL THE ONES NEXT TO IT ARE NOT!!!!!! banghead

She tells the two knucklescrapers there is no sign to that effect, at which point they point to a sign on a lamp post, 35 foot away, turned at a 90 degree angle!

I now plan to hunt down every employee of HADRIAN TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT, kill them, and eat their children.

£117......easy fookin pickings or what rage

The sign has to be clear and prominent. This clearly isn't. remove the clamp WITHOUT BREAKING IT and you have broken no law. If they try to physically stop you, call the police immediately and tell them you have been assaulted.

Do this and you break no law.

Personally I'd prefer a fine for criminal damage for taking the thing off with a hammer and chisel rather than give them a shilling.

I had to pay it for her Mr I.
She's stuck in Stockton, (without that kind of cash), i'm at home looking after the little 'un, (without the car, obviously), and if she didnt pay, they would have towed the car away which would have seen the fine more than double!!

Licence to print money....no more, no less.

So your next move Mr Bandage is to go photograph the sign & parking space, cvontact the clampers & inform them that you are suing them for your money plus damages as their signs were inadequate.

that company is dreadful, they've got a virtual monopoly on all the student areas in Durham and are complete bastards, you used to be able to see them driving round all day just looking for easy targets.

Ray Mallon boro's mayor had his car clamped by the same people a while back, apparently he kicked off stating he was on official business so they removed it without charge stupid

All clampers have to be scrutinised by some regulating body, unfortunately pal, they are licensed so its unlikely you'll get your money back.
You could try the other routes mentioned by a couple of bunkerites.

Good luck banghead

A few months ago the topic of wheel clamping cropped up on the Daily Politics show.
In the course of the discussion the presenter, Andrew Neil, said that the French had tried to introduce similar arrangements but the population didn't much care for it. In fact they disliked it so much that they took to carrying around tubes of super glue which they put into the locks of wheel clamps that were in operation (on cars other than their own).
The clamped driver still had to pay the release fee, but of course as they had not caused the damage they did not have to pay for the repair/replacement of the clamp. They were subjected to a greater delay while the clamp was removed but were consoled by the inconvenience and expense caused to the clampers. Apparently they no longer have wheel clamping in France. (I don't know how far this last is true).

Andrew Neil said that he was passing this on as a matter of interest, and not as a recomendation, as that would be an incitement to law breaking. I pass it on here in the same spirit.

Did the Men in White (or what ever they are called) invent a car that couldn't be clamped or given a ticket to?

I'm sure I remember seeing an attendent trying to put a ticket on the car only for him to be squired. Then he tried to be a clamp on and this thing came down and covered the wheel and the car started shaking.

We were once off to a Hartlepool game and we stopped for a piss in thirsk when we came out a sad old excuse of a woman was already writing us a ticket saying that we'd parked in a disabled place. Only thing was that the disabled sign was faded and the sign was too small for us to read. Anyway, we wanted to get to the match and asked her to send it through the post. She wouldn't let us go, she stood in our way and took her time on purpose. Then she took our photos and said "smile for the camera and say cheese" and started winding us up calling us silly and saying "I bet you regret parking here", "I hope you enjoy your fine" etc. rage

Traffic wardens have no rights to stop you, its unlawful imprisonment.

Exactly but if we'd have run her over (like I wanted to do at the time) then we'd have been in deep shit.

If you report then, I can gaurantee that the police will not do anything.
