I've read it too. It's a good read. Houchen tells a good tale (or at least the author does). I still think he would have made a good manager, but he had no funds.

Houchen had suggested the manner in which Reid was trying to poach Halliday 'stunk'

A short while later, Houch and Hornsey got a phone call from the bin dipper and the exact words of the book are

Then it was followed by Peter Reid backing out of the the agreed £375000 price tag for Halliday, but he only did this outside on the steps before fooking off in his car
