Theyre both Irish. One's a big spud patch and the other is a thug who should have been banned from football in 1997. Your guess.

Question

I have recurring infections in my fingertips and the tips of my toes. The infections occur under the skin at the side of the nails and are very painful. Sometimes the infections rupture and pus seeps out. The visible sign is a whitening of the skin where the infection is. My finger tips and toe tips are quite red. My mother has used the term Wicklow to describe the condition, which she says is an old name. Is there a modern term for the condition and is there an effective treatment?

Answer

This sounds an extremely painful and troublesome symptom. A Whitlow is a term for a deep-seated infection of the fingers. It was a particular problem before antibiotics were discovered.

The persistence of your symptoms requires thorough investigation to identify the cause. The bacteria, virus or fungus responsible should be identified. In certain patients frequent infections may reveal underlying diabetes, but this can be excluded with a simple urine test.

Treatment of bacterial infection with antibiotics is extremely effective, although in some persistent cases prolonged courses of treatment may be needed. It is also wise to consider changing the layer of organisms that normally cover our bodies by using antiseptic soap for a month. This is particularly effective when combined with topical antiseptic creams.

This will require the help of your GP, so do discuss the persistent nature of your problem with them.

Yours sincerely

when I typed keen into the search I got a Q&A from a guy who wants his girlfriend to give him anal sex, this bit made me laugh,

It seems to me that the real question is whether your partner actually wants anal intercourse. It sounds to me as if she's not keen
Perhaps you should get your partner to push a large, hard vibrator up your bottom, just to see whether you find this great fun – or not!

Yours sincerely
