Poolie on University Challenge

Noticed that the team with a Poolie on it was on University Challenge the other night-

She is the one on the left with the look of a violent Victorian landlady about her.

The rest of her team are as thick as shyte and they got hammered. Maybe we should have a Uri Geller style support campaign and all stroke our chins next time she is on (you never actually get knocked out under the new rules you just keep going until you finally meet the university equivalent of Darlo).

Aye watched it, she was the only one able to answer anyhing, mostly on heavy duty maths - how many x's in a y etc..

Have to say though, she was a monster.

Very long arms though, if you look at the photo she has actually got her finger up Paxman's arse.

If she had a few more Poolies to help her she might have stood a chance.

I think they must be Oxford's poor relation when it comes to Uni colleges - I think Paxo mentioned they are a new Uni and used to be a Poly...

They've been pretty hot until now, which is how they've got so far. Must just have had bad luck with the questions this week.

But....why do people say they're 'originally' from places (as the Hartlepool lass did)? Surely 'originally' is what's being asked by the question 'where do you come from?'

Good point. When they say it on University Challenge I always thinks it translates as, "I am ashamed to say I come from ************, it is a shyte place and I now pretend to be from Oxford/Cambridge/London." Maybe we should keep our chins dry for a more deserving quiz entrant.

She probably says "orignally from Hartlepool" because she's proud to be associated with the town.
Although if she reads any of the gratuitous insults regarding her appearance on here that may change.

It's University Challenge FFS. It's a test of knowledge and intelligence. Not a fuc&in beauty parade.
