I was just working hard looking at lists of celebrity football fans and saw that some biographies of Janick Gers have him down as a Newcastle fan. Can anybody on here who knows him confirm that this is scurrilous shyte of the highest order?

I've seen him at Pools matches in the past and as a result if Iron Maiden come on telly I watch for a good 30 seconds before turning over. I'll be quicker with the remote if it turns out their only redeeming feature is a mug.

True, but if somebody has to pick up millions for crazed guitar wankery it is good that it is a Poolie, unless it turns out that he is a plastic mag in which case they are not just shyte they are worse than an evening of tantric bass with Sting.

Thanks. Excellent to have that confirmation, long may he continue to be big in Brazil and most other places where they have some respect for that sort of thing.

Janick is a Poolie -Deffo.
Have seen Maiden with Janick in a Poolie shirt.

Maiden were however better live when they first started out with Paul Di'Anno. Prowler & Running Free from the first album were class.
Not been the same since Bruce Dickinson joined.

See the clip from 1980.

& this from the first album

Remember some v.early gigs when living in the South-east inc' Maiden taking Reading Rock by storm before that that Festival went all bloody indie.

Happy days.

Chip,

You're right. I think.

They had a team which played ( occasionally) in the Berkshire area.
I played against them along with Ian Gillan ( he of Deep Purple) in 1981 I think it was. I think the game was at Purley. More of a "friendly" arrangement I think than a league.
I recall a 3-3 draw with Ian Gillan being particularly good . I played shyte & got in the team purely from doing some assistant roady work with Hawkwind at the time.

I worked in the warehouse in the local Asda at the time .Dave Brock used to shop in Asda ( I kid you not ) & asked a couple of the warehouse lads to help out at some festivals they were doing.

The Hawks provided a couple of players to play with Ian Gillan.

Seem to remember a few of the Windsor chapter of Hell Angels playing too.

Maiden had some lads from London playing I think including some roadies too.

There, that's my claim to fame .

Not sure if Maiden played more seriously later on.

Janick did an interview on ITV Digital when they focussed on Pools years back. Made a few snipes at Darlo, had plenty to say about Pools and nailed his colours firmly to the mast. I can also confirm seeing him at many away games in the past down south

I dont like using things like FACT and hth etc but im going to make an exception.

Janick is a poolie: FACT

Iron Maiden are the biggest Rock band in the world at the mo and have been for several years, and are just to embark on there next world tour averaging crowds of 15-20,000: FACT

They are one of the most exciting bands ive ever seen live: FACT

Ive got VIP tickets to see them in Korea next month: FACT

The Van you seen parked down Burbank st could possibly have been the band 'TRAPPS" cos i used to drive it and lived in B. St. in the very early 80's

FACT and HTH bbolt
