451 and go 442.

Flinders

Austin
Collins
Hartley
Horwood

Mcsweeney
Murray
Liddle
Monkey

Boyd
Brown

Sweeney to come on for Murray if we need to go more attacking
Gamble on for Boyd/brown if we need to protect a lead.

Bosh, simple as...

I think you are right regarding dropping the 451 and going to 442

I think Mick saw something which suggested 442 was going to be a problem.....whether that was no decent strikers or a midfield who just get over ran and aren't strong enough so need an extra man

But it seems like even with 3 v 2 in middle we still don't dominate the midfield enough so 442 would probably see our central midfield struggle even more (especially in games were murray isn't playing) but at least we would have some sort of pressure up front.

Only trouble is with that formation is Brown and Murray......can't play 2 games in a week and 1 can't even last 90 in the 1 he does play and the next 2 months we have pretty much 2 games every week.

So we're struggling to score goals and you drop our top scorer?

Hows about;

GK Flinders
RB Austin
LB Horwood
CB Hartley
CB Collins
RM Brown
LM Monkhouse
CM Murray
CM Sweeney
CF Donaldson
CF Boyd or Bjornsson

yep Sweeney can only operate in a 3 man midfield (it seems) and liddle has more clout in there. Both can drop deeper if need be.

Thing is with sweeney, yes he is top scorer but he only has 1 more than liddle in the league

Don't think it's fair not to have leon in the team....we all know it won't have happen but mcsweeney and brown down wings?

Dropping monkey is a good idea because he's been awful lately.

monkey awful lately...been awful pretty much the whole season....don't understand if he's being told to play different tactically as he is so negative but the left side looks good when going forward

Monkhouse hasn't been as good as usual this season but remember that he's playing in a different position in a 4-3-3, why not give him a go in his preferred position on the left of a 4 before condemning him?

Disagree about Sweeney only being able to play in a midfield three too. He can play in a 4-4-2 with the right partner in the middle, Murray can be that right partner.

Maybe your right ripper, although that would be really harsh on Lidds who has looked great since going back into midfield.

i reckon if we play 4-4-2 with Sweeney and Murray in the middle we can easily switch to a diamond aswell with Sweeney playing attacking mid and Murray at defensive mid

I'd stick with the 4-5-1 formation that has got to into a mid table position. I wouldn't hit the panic button yet.

that well known tactic when you go 1-0 behind of switching to a diamond.
Donaldson looked lightweight last night but had no service really, playing boyd up front with him is not the answer

Whatever formation you play teams have upturns and downturns in form.

Footballers win games not systems or formations. We are simply out of form at the minute.
